Actions for the Projects Form

Use actions to add a touchpoint, qualify a contact, create a linked promotional project, copy or delete a project, phase, or task, and more. The actions available depend on which work breakdown structure (WBS) element is currently selected.

Actions

Field Description
Add Touchpoint

Select this action to add a touchpoint, a simple activity such as a meeting or a phone call, for the current record.

Qualify Contact

This option displays when:

  • Your enterprise has access to CRM Plus.
  • You set the Enable Lead Qualification global CRM setting to Yes in Settings > CRM.
  • The contact is a New Lead. For more information about how to set up a default status in My Preferences, see the Defaults Tab of the My Preferences Dialog Box.

Click this option to qualify the contact if the contact meets your enterprise's requirements and is interested in doing business with your organization.

When a contact is qualified, the Qualified Status field on the Summary pane updates to display Qualified. You can change this status if the contact moves to another phase in the process.

Disqualify Contact

If you decide that a qualified contact is no longer a good candidate for a project, click Disqualify Contact to disqualify the contact. This action keeps the contact in the database for future use.

On the Disqualify Contact dialog box, use Status Reason to specify the reason for disqualifying the contact and then click Disqualify. The contact's status is automatically changed to Inactive and the status reason is listed in the Contact Summary.

Field Description
Find Field

Select this action to quickly search for any field name or database column identifier on a hub form and its tabs. The field names are the actual names that display on a hub form and its tabs. The field identifiers are the database column names for each field, which can include grids, lookups, calendars, and other selection lists.

In the Find Field, enter a partial or complete name or number and click to return all available fields. The number of matches found displays below the search field.

When multiple matches are found, click or to page through the results on the form and its tabs. As you page through the field results, the hub form highlights a specific form field or the grid, lookup, or drop-down list that contains the specified field record.

Create a Linked Promotional Project

Select this action to display the Create Linked Promotional Project dialog box and then add a project for tracking the costs incurred in pursuing the currently selected regular project. The promotional project is linked to the regular project, but is a separate project with its own work breakdown structure (WBS) and other properties.

If the project is not a regular project, already has a linked promotional project, or is assigned to a pipeline stage that is not designated as an in-pursuit stage, this option is not available.

If the currently selected project has more than one WBS level, this option is available only at the project level.

Create New Proposal

Select this action to display the New Proposal dialog box and then create a proposal for the project by specifying general information such as the name, number, project, due date, and other details.

Design
Select this action to open the Screen Designer, which you can use to add tabs, grids, fields, and field properties. The Screen Designer provides two sections:
  • A canvas area (on the left) that you use to view the design changes that you make to the form
  • A list of tabs, fields, and properties (on the right) that you can define and add to the screen
Click the in a field or tab to remove it from the form.
Delete Select this action to delete a project, phase, or task. If any records outside the Projects hub reference the project, phase, or task, you cannot delete it. Otherwise, Vantagepoint prompts you to confirm that you want to proceed with the deletion. If the project, phase, or task has any associated revenue forecast or planning data, Vantagepoint warns you that this data will also be deleted.

If the project, phase, or task has schedule dependencies, those dependencies for the selected level and its child levels are removed.

If you delete a regular project that is linked to a promotional project or a promotional project that is linked to a regular project, the other project in the linked pair is not automatically deleted. To remove both projects, you must delete them individually.

Print

Select this action to display the Print Options menu. Depending on which option you select, Vantagepoint displays either the Reporting dialog box or the search dialog box. You can then specify the record, or record selection, to be included in the report before you generate and print the report. For more information, see Select a Print Option to Print Records for a Report.
