Create a Purchasing Template

Purchasing comes with a template for generating purchase order and request for price quote forms; this template is not displayed on lookups or in drop-down lists. Use the Purchase Template Editor when the installed template does not generate the content or layout that you want for your purchase orders or requests for price quote forms.

After you create a template, drop-down lists in the Buyers grid in Purchasing Settings and on the Vendor tab of the Firms hub include that template. You assign your template to the buyers who are approved to use the template, and to the vendors whose purchasing documents must use them.

To create a new purchasing template:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Settings > Purchasing & Inventory > Purchase Template Editor.
  2. On the Purchase Template Editor form, click + New Purchase Template.

The form refreshes to show a new template record.

  3. Enter a name for the new purchase template and complete fields on all tabs.
  4. Click Save.
Vantagepoint adds each new template to these lists:
    • The PO Template field in the Buyers grid of the Buyer tab in Settings > Purchasing & Inventory > Company, in the desktop application
    • The RFQ/PO Template field on the Vendor tab of the Firms hub
Next Step: You can preview the template. Under Actions, click Preview and select from the following choices:
  • Preview PO
  • Preview RFQ
  • Preview RFQ for Requisition

Select a record from the lookup, view the template on an actual Purchasing record, and adjust the template as necessary.
