Release a Held Transaction

In Interactive Billing, you can release labor, expense, or unit transactions that are on hold so they can be billed and included on an invoice.

If you set up Interactive Billing to release holds automatically (the Release Holds Automatically option is set to Yes in Settings > Billing > Options), all held transactions for a project are automatically released after you accept a final invoice. The status of the transactions automatically changes to Bill. If you do not have the Release Holds Automatically option turned on, held transactions remain held until you manually release them.

To manually release held transactions:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Billing > Interactive Billing.
  2. Complete the information on the Billing Session Options dialog box.
  3. On the Interactive Billing form, enter a complete or partial name or number in the Find project lookup field to find and select the project that has transactions to release from hold.
  4. Click the Labor, Expense, or Units tab, based on the transaction to release.
  5. In the transactions grid, select the checkbox at the beginning of any transaction's row that has a Hold status that you want to release from being held.
    You can select more than one transaction.
  6. On the grid action bar, click Bill to return the transactions to a billable status or select another appropriate action, such as Write-off or Delete to change the transaction's status to something other than Hold.
