Use the Data Import utility to import data to a
Vantagepoint user-defined hub.
Follow these guidelines:
-
Vantagepoint only allows delimited layouts when you import text fields. Fixed layouts are not allowed.
- You must have the proper security access to the data import and user-defined hub.
To import data to a user-defined hub:
-
In the Navigation pane, select
.
-
In the Search field on the Import form, select the user-defined hub and expand it to choose a table into which to import the file.
-
If you want to modify the CSV import settings, configure the import to trigger workflows, or ignore fields required by Screen Designer, click
Settings and complete the Import Settings dialog box.
You can save your settings on the
Saved Options field.
-
On the Field Mapping grid title bar, enable
Update Existing Records if you want to add the file to an existing record; otherwise disable the option to create a new record.
-
On the Actions bar, click
Upload File and then, on the Open dialog box, select the file to be imported and click
Open.
The Field Mapping grid populates with the first 10 records from the file. The import operation automatically honors the logic from the user-defined hub (for example, required fields). The first row displays the import file's column captions. If any caption matches the
Vantagepoint caption in the hub, then it is automatically mapped to the heading row. If any columns captions do not match, you must manually enter the new value in the heading field before you can select
Validate and Import.
-
Click
Validate and Import.
A Validation Complete message identifies any errors. You can proceed with the import, schedule it for later, or download the errors before continuing.
-
If you want to continue the import and review any errors later, click
Proceed with Import.
An Import Complete message reports the number of records imported.
-
If any errors were found, the number of errors is displayed on the Import Complete message; click
Download Errors to review and correct them in the CSV file.
-
If you corrected any errors, upload the file, click
Validate and Import again, and confirm that there are no errors.
-
To verify that the import operation completed successfully, navigate to the user-defined hub to which you imported the file and check that the records display for that hub.
