Voiding Credit Memos

When you void a billing invoice that has credit memos generated against it, you must also void the credit memos; they are not automatically voided when you void the original invoice. You void a credit memo for a billing invoice in Interactive Billing.

When you void a credit memo:

  • Transactions (labor, expenses, and so on) are not returned to an unbilled status. Instead, the credit memo transactions are reversed.
  • The credit memo number cannot be re-used.

For instructions on voiding a credit memo, see Void a Credit Memo.

Storing Copies of Voided Credit Memos

Copies of voided credit memos are retained in Vantagepoint as PDF files for viewing, printing, and downloading only if the original credit memo was stored as a PDF file when it was created. For this to occur, you must have Store PDF of Final Invoice set to Yes in Settings > Billing > Options when a credit memo is created.

You can view, print, and download a voided credit memo before or after it is posted.

A "Void" watermark displays across each page of a voided credit memo.

For more information on where you can view, print, and download voided credit memos, see View, Print, or Download a Voided Credit Memo.
