Opt-In Feature Overview

The Vantagepoint Opt-In feature allows an administrator control on enabling new features that are associated with a release, including features that will eventually be released to all users. Administrators can choose to opt in to a production-ready feature in a sandbox database. This gives users the opportunity to test and experience how the feature will potentially impact their workflow, data, and application prior to enabling in production database, and before the feature is automatically enabled for all users in a future release.

Because opt-in features are available as optional for a set time frame before they are automatically enabled for all users, administrators have the opportunity to control the timing of user testing. This also allows the administrator the flexibility to disable the option if needed during the testing of the feature in the sandbox database.

Once an opt-in feature is automatically enabled in a future release, the choice to opt-in is removed. However, the functionality could still be controlled by a configuration setting as needed.

Opt-In Feature Identifier

You can choose to opt-in to this feature for the Vantagepoint 7.0 release. The ability to opt-in is temporary and will be removed when the feature becomes automatically enabled for all users as part of the release. See the Opt-In Feature Overview for more information.

When the feature becomes a standard part of the release, the label is removed from all associated content.

Role Security

The Opt-in feature only displays for users that have the appropriate access rights. For example, only Purchasing users will see the Purchasing » Create Voucher from Purchase Order option.
