To change the phase number of an existing phase record, use the Key Conversion utility for phases. Changing the phase number in this utility updates the phase record in the Projects hub, as well as any associated details and transactions.
Warning: If your company uses an on-premises deployment of
Vantagepoint, Deltek strongly recommends that you create a backup copy of your database before running the utility. There is no way to undo this process without a backup database.
If your company has an on-premises deployment of
Vantagepoint, your company manages your database backup. If your company has a cloud-based deployment of
Vantagepoint, coordinate with Deltek about your database backup.
To change the phase number of a phase record:

In the Navigation pane, select

On the Change Number tab of the Phases form, click
+ Add Project below the grid.

To specify the existing phase, complete the following actions:

In the
Existing Project column in the new row, enter or select the project record that is associated with the phase to be renumbered.
The existing phases available for selection update, based on this project.

In the
Existing Phase column, enter or select the phase record to be renumbered.

To specify the new phase number, complete the following actions:

In the
New Project column, enter or select the same project shown in
Existing Project.

In the
New Phase column, enter the new phase number.

To change other phase numbers, repeat steps 3 and 4.

Select one of the following actions:
- To make the change immediately, click
Run.
- To schedule the change process to run at a later time, click
Schedule and complete the fields on the Schedule dialog box. The change takes effect after the process is completed.
Other applications, and any transactions that reference the affected records, are updated automatically.
If you change a phase number but do not move it, any existing dependencies for the phase are retained after the process is run.
