Enter Notes for a Plan Element in Project Planning

To enter notes for a work breakdown structure (WBS) element in a project plan, display the plan on the Plan form in the Projects hub and either click or in the Notes column on the WBS element's grid row.

Prerequisite: To enter or display notes, the Notes column must be displayed in the grid. To select that column for display, click in the upper-right corner of the grid.

To enter or edit notes for a WBS element in a project plan:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Hubs > Projects > Plan.
  2. At the top of the Plan form, enter either a complete or partial name or number in the Find project lookup field to find and select the project for which you want to enter notes.
  3. On the Actions bar, click Check Out.
  4. Click on any of the tabs except the Schedule tab.
  5. Expand the WBS to display the WBS element row for which you want to enter a note.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • If the icon displays in the Notes column for the plan element, click that icon to review or edit the existing notes.
    • If the icon does not display, hover over the row and click to add a note.
  7. Click the down arrow in the upper-right corner of the text entry field to display the toolbar that provides editing and formatting options.
  8. Enter or edit the notes.
  9. Click Save.
