Add a Link to the Links Grid

Use the Links grid to link one or more external text files, graphics files, or email messages to a hub record.

This tab name changes from Files & Links to Links when FileStream (a Microsoft SQL Server feature) is not in use.

If you use the Vantagepoint on-premises product, the Files and Links tab applies only if Transaction Document Management is configured. For more information, see the Supporting Documents and Files online help topic.

To add a link to the Links grid:

  1. Click +Add Link to add a URL to the Links grid.
Use this option to link web sites, FTP sites, email addresses, and newsgroups to the current record. If a web site, FTP site, email address, or newsgroup location changes, the hyperlink in this field no longer works.
  2. Enter a brief description of the file link or URL, to help you distinguish it from other files.
  3. In the Link Path, enter the file link path or URL.
    • If you are adding a link to the Links grid, Vantagepoint stores the link so that you can copy and paste it into file explorer. The file remains on your computer or network.
  4. To edit a file link path or URL, right-click it and click the Edit option.
  5. If the associated file link is a graphics file, select the Graphic checkbox.
This is selected by default if the file has one of these extensions: jpeg, jpg, tif, tiff, gif, bmp, or png. See the Proposals section of the help for more information.
