Contacts and QuickBooks Integration

When you use Vantagepoint and QuickBooks Online, the contact that you enter for a customer or vendor in QuickBooks Online is added as a contact in Vantagepoint.

Adding New Contacts in QuickBooks Online

In QuickBooks Online, you enter a customer in Sales > Customers or a vendor in Expenses Vendors. The first name and last name that you enter for the customer or vendor is considered the contact.

When new customers and vendors from QuickBooks Online are added to Vantagepoint, the contact for QuickBooks Online customers and vendors is added to Vantagepoint as:

  • A contact record in the Contacts hub in Hubs > Contacts > Contacts.
  • A contact for the new client- or vendor-type firms added to the Firms hub in Hubs > Firms > Firms.

Making Changes to Contacts

You must make changes to contacts in QuickBooks Online in the customer or vendor record. These changes are updated in Vantagepoint.

Contact Address

The following information applies for if you used the QuickBooks Integration utility in Vantagepoint.

The address from a new customer or vendor record in QuickBooks Online is added to the contact record in Vantagepoint.

Changes that you make to the contact's address in either QuickBooks Online or Vantagepoint are not updated in other product.

To change the address for a contact in both QuickBooks Online and Vantagepoint:

  1. In Vantagepoint, delete the address in the Contacts hub.
  2. In QuickBooks Online, make the change to the address in the customer or vendor record.

The address from QuickBooks Online is added to the contact record in Vantagepoint in the Contacts hub.

Contacts Entered in Vantagepoint

Contacts that you enter in Vantagepoint are not added to QuickBooks Online.

Deleting Contacts in Vantagepoint

Deleting a contact in Vantagepoint that is shared with QuickBooks Online does not delete the contact from the customer or vendor record in QuickBooks Online.

Contact Fields Shared Between QuickBooks Online and Vantagepoint

The following table identifies the corresponding fields that are shared between the QuickBooks Online customer record and the Vantagepoint contact record.

QuickBooks Online Field in Sales > Customers or Expenses > Vendors Vantagepoint Field in Hubs > Contacts
Title, First name, Middle name, Last name, and Suffix Fields that display in the name dialog box when you click the Name field on the Overview tab.

The Salutation field is mapped to the Title field in QuickBooks Online.

Email, Phone, Mobile, and Fax Fields that display in the Contact Information dialog box when you click Contact Information on the Overview tab.
