Change the Revenue Forecast Dates

In addition to changing revenue forecast dates, you can indicate how you want the schedule change to affect the distribution of planned revenue forecast amounts.

You need the Resource Planning module and project plan modification rights to edit revenue forecast dates.

To reschedule revenue forecast dates:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Hubs > Projects > Revenue Forecast.
  2. At the top of the Revenue Forecast form, enter either a complete or partial name or number in the Find project lookup field to find and select the project for which you want to change the revenue forecast dates.

The revenue forecast start and end dates are initially populated with the values from the associated project plan. However, the revenue forecast dates operate independently from the plan dates once the revenue forecast is created.

A warning message displays if there are gaps or overlapping dates for the existing fiscal periods included in the project's revenue forecast date range. If there are gaps or overlaps, the revenue forecast periods are displayed using months.

If there are not enough established fiscal periods to support the project's revenue forecast date range, Vantagepoint automatically adjusts the column heading for those affected dates depending on the value set for the Periods Per Year field in Utilities > Periods > Period Setup:
    • If Periods Per Year is 12 or is not 13, any missing fiscal periods display in months.
    • If Periods Per Year is 13, any missing fiscal periods display as 4 week (28 day) periods.

If the first or last fiscal period dates do not coincide with their corresponding month start/end dates, partial months display in those calendar columns.

If the project's fee allocation method is not set to use revenue forecasts, Vantagepoint displays an informational message indicating that you need to go to the Estimated Fee tab of the Contract Management form and select Use Revenue Forecasts as the allocation method before you can enter the revenue forecast for the project.

  3. On the Actions bar, click Check Out.

If no one has the plan checked out, it is checked out to you.

If someone else has the plan checked out, a message displays to identify the person who has it checked out. Click the email address in this message to compose an email message to them about the plan. If your security role has the required access, the message also contains a link that you can click to check in the plan and check it back out to you.

  4. On the row for which you want to change dates, do one of the following:
    • Click the Forecast Start or Forecast End date and select a new date on the calendar.
    • Hover over or click the plan row, click at the end of the row, and then click Reschedule.
  5. On the Reschedule Revenue Forecast Dates dialog box, do one of the following:
    • To keep the same number of working days between the forecast start and end date and keep the same distribution of planned revenue, select Shift.
    • To lengthen or shorten the forecast date range, select Change Duration.
  6. If you selected Change Duration, do one of the following:
    • To redistribute the planned revenue evenly over the new date range, select Distribute Revenue Evenly.
    • To keep the current distribution of planned revenue, select Don't Redistribute.
  7. In the To This Revenue Forecast Date Range fields, enter the new date range for the row.
    • If you selected the Shift option, select either a new start date or a new end date. Vantagepoint determines the other date needed to keep the same number of working days in the range.

If you clicked at the end of the row to display this dialog box and then selected the Shift option, you can change one or both of the dates in the From This Revenue Forecast Date Range fields to shift only a part of the current date range. If you do not change these dates, the entire date range is shifted.

    • If you selected the Change Duration option, select both the start date and end date in the To This Revenue Forecast Date Range fields.
  8. If you selected the Change Duration option and you want to change the dates for all the child rows to match the new plan dates for the parent row, select Replace All Child Dates with New Parent Dates.
If this checkbox is not selected, dates for child rows are adjusted only if they matched the original revenue forecast dates or if they fall outside the new date range.
  9. To complete the rescheduling process, click Reschedule.
After verifying the validity of all changes, Vantagepoint does the following:
    • Changes the affected revenue forecast dates.
    • Redistributes planned revenue amounts.

When the process finishes, a completion message displays at the top of the page.
