In Resource View, you can review resource assignments, add new assignments and enter planned hours, and make changes to existing assignments.

- Search for Resources
Use the Find Resources pane on the left side of Resource View to select the resources that you want to review or assign to projects in the Resource View grid. - Specify Skill Levels for a Resource Search
When you search for named resources based on skills, you can use the Set Skill Levels dialog box to specify the desired or required skill levels and frequency or duration of skill use for those skills. - Specify Credential Details for a Resource Search
When you search for employees based on credentials, you can use the Set Credentials Details dialog box to specify the states in which the credentials must be valid and to specify that the credentials must not have an expiration date before a certain date. - Build a Team
Use the Resource View grid and the Save as Search option to assemble a team of resources that you want to plan for as a group (a project management team, for example). After you select the resources, you can save them as a saved search so you can easily display them in Resource View in the future. - Edit or Delete a Saved Resource Search

If you need to do additional searches to assemble the group of resources you want, you can "pin" those you want to retain from your original search. Vantagepoint saves all pinned resources so you can retrieve them later. - Filter the Drill-Down Search Results
After you search for resources, use the Filter Projects dialog box to reduce the number of results in the grid when you drill down from an employee or generic resource row. - Select Columns for a Planning Grid
To change the columns that display in Project View, Resource View, or one of the planning grids in the Projects hub, select the columns that you want on the Column Settings or Grid Settings dialog box. - Hide or Show Summary Columns
To display more of the calendar period columns in the grid in Resource View or Project View, you can hide the summary columns in the middle section of the grid. - Display Project Numbers in the View Grids
In both Resource View and Project View, you can display numbers for the plan work breakdown structure (WBS) elements along with their names. By default, the numbers do not display. - Change the Number, Length, or Starting Period of the Calendar Period Grid Columns
Use the Change Forecast Period dialog box to change the number calendar period columns in the Resource View grid, change the length (day, week, or month) of each period, or change the starting period. - Change the Capacity Values Displayed in the Grid
In the calendar period columns in the Resource View grid, you can display planned hours, scheduled percentage, or utilization percentage. - Assign Work on a Project to One Resource
To assign work on a project to a single resource and enter planned hours, display the resource in the Resource View grid and specify the assignment information on the Add Assignment dialog box. - Assign Work on a Project to a Group of Resources
To assign work on a project to a group of resources, display and select the resources in the Resource View grid and specify the assignment information on the Add Assignments to Selected Resources dialog box. - Enter Summary Planned Hours in Resource View
To have Vantagepoint allocate summary planned hours to a resource's individual assignments, display the resource in the Resource View grid and enter the summary hours in the appropriate field and at the appropriate level of the plan work breakdown structure (WBS). - Enter Planned Hours for Calendar Periods in Resource View
To enter planned hours for a resource assignment for specific calendar periods (days, weeks, or months) in Resource View, display the resource in the Resource View grid, expand the plan work breakdown structure (WBS) under that resource to display the assignment for which you want to enter hours, and enter the hours in the appropriate calendar period fields. - Sort Resources and Projects in the Resource View Grid
Use the Grid Settings dialog box to select sorting options for resources and projects in the Resource View grid. - Group Resources in Resource View
By default, resources display in the Resource View without any grouping, but you can choose to group them by labor category, organization, or job title. - Reschedule Assignments or Plans in Resource Management
To change plan dates or assignment dates for plan rows that have planned hours, use the Reschedule dialog box to enter the new dates and to indicate how you want the schedule change to affect the distribution of planned hours and amounts. To change plan dates for plan rows with no planned hours, you can also simply change the dates in the Project View grid. - Reassign Work on a Project to Another Resource in Resource View
If you assign work on a project to an employee or generic resource and later want to transfer all or part of the assignment hours to another resource (for example, from a generic resource to a new employee you have just hired for the project), you can reassign them from Resource View. - Delete a Resource Assignment in Resource View
If you assign work on a project to a resource and later want to remove that assignment, you can do that in the Resource View grid. You can also delete all lower-level assignments under a parent element in the plan work breakdown structure (WBS). - Check in a Project Plan
When you check out a plan, other users can view it but cannot make changes to it until it is checked back in. Though a plan is automatically checked in when you switch to a different project or go elsewhere in Vantagepoint, there may be situations in which you must manually check in plans.
