Use the Context Pane with Connect for Gmail

The Connect for Gmail Context Pane is your portal to Vantagepoint information while working in the Gmail application.

After you install Vantagepoint Connect, you can open the Context Pane. While using Gmail, you can use the Context Pane to quickly access your Vantagepoint information, including related contacts, employees, firms, projects, and activities.

When you open the Context Pane, the Vantagepoint information is shown for the sender and recipients of the email message, if they exist in Vantagepoint as contacts or employees. If the sender or recipients are not recognized as Vantagepoint contacts, you have the option to create a contact record. Based on the selected email, the contact and/or employee's email address and associated firm (if available) are added to the respective fields on the Context Pane.

The Context Pane includes an option that lets you log details from an email message as an activity in Vantagepoint, to record the subject, time/date, attendees, contacts, and related firm information. The body of the email message is added to the activity's notes. You can also associate a project with the email and select an option to open Vantagepoint directly from the Context Pane.
