Revise a Timesheet

You can make changes to a timesheet before it is posted. You can edit an in-progress timesheet at any time before you submit the timesheet, as long as the timesheet period is still open.

You can edit a submitted or approved timesheet only if the timesheet period is still open and your system administrator allows users to resubmit timesheets. If your system administrator does not allow users to resubmit timesheets, you can submit a timesheet only once. If you must edit a timesheet after it is submitted or approved, contact your system administrator.

You cannot edit a posted timesheet.

To revise a timesheet:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select My Stuff > Timesheet.
  2. On the Timesheet form, use the search field to select the timesheet that you want to update.
If you select a timesheet that has displayed on the Timesheets form between the employee name and the timesheet period, the timesheet is locked and you cannot make changes to it. You can display and print locked timesheets, but you cannot make additions or changes to them. Timesheets are locked to prevent changes under the following circumstances:
    • The timesheet has been submitted, and you are not allowed to resubmit timesheets.
    • The timesheet has been posted.
    • The timesheet period is closed.
  3. Revise the timesheet as needed.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Click Actions > Save to save the timesheet.
    • Click Actions > Submit to save and submit the timesheet in a single step.
  5. If you changed the previously saved hours for a timesheet row and the Revision Explanation dialog box displays when you try to save, do one of the following:
    • Enter a reason for the revision in Explanation and click Save.
    • Select a pre-defined revision explanation in Standard Explanations, optionally modify its text in Explanation, and click Save.
The date and time of the revision, as well as the person responsible for making the changes, are saved in the revision records that are associated with the timesheet in the database.
  6. If you have approval rights, either an Approve or Restart Approval button displays, depending on the current workflow review action setting. Click the button to complete the approval process.
