FEC File Generation (Desktop)

Periodically, companies doing business in France must submit the Fichier d'Ecritures Comptables (FEC) to the taxing authorities.

You can use the FEC File Generation form to generate the two FEC files: a description file and a data file containing the accounting entries.

Prerequisite: A valid FEC Data file requires that all transactions have diary numbers. The FEC file entries are numbered sequentially by diary. Therefore, if you generate an FEC Data file that contains transactions posted prior to implementing diaries, those transactions will have incomplete data in the file. The FEC Data file will only contain complete entries for transactions that are posted after you implement diaries.

Billing Client

The billing client for invoices and cash receipts that displays in the FEC data file is the billing client that an invoice was posted with. If a cash receipt has no invoice, the billing client that displays in the data file is the project's billing client, which was specified in the Billing Client field on the Accounting tab in the Projects hub when you generated the FEC data file.

The billing client is automatically assigned to an invoice when you accept an invoice in Interactive Billing or Batch Billing, or when you enter an invoice directly in Invoice Transaction Entry. The assigned invoice comes from the project's billing client entered in the Billing Client field on the Accounting tab in the Projects hub. The billing client assigned to accepted invoices is used when you post the invoices in an invoice transaction file, unless you changed the billing client in the invoice transaction file in Invoice Transaction Entry before you posted it. If you change the billing client in the Projects hub, the new billing client applies to invoices going forward and not invoices that are already accepted and posted.
