Contents of the Choose Project Structure Form

Use the fields and options on the Choose Project Structure form to select phases and tasks for the work breakdown structure (WBS) of a new project when you are creating that project from an existing project or template.

Contents

When the form displays, the grid contains a row for the new project and a row for each phase in the WBS that you are copying. If that WBS also contains tasks, they are hidden, but you can expand their parent phases to display them. (Tasks are hidden initially so that the Choose Project Structure form displays more quickly when the WBS is large or complex). Whether they are visible or not, all phases and tasks are selected by default. If you are also creating a linked promotional project from an existing project or template, its WBS elements, if any, are also displayed in the grid so you can select the elements you want to keep. Any WBS elements that your security role does not give you access to cannot be selected.

Field Description
Regular/Overhead/Promotional Project: Number This column displays the new project number, along with phase, and task numbers in the WBS that you are copying from a project or template. Clear the check boxes for the phases and tasks that you do not want to include in the new project WBS. Clearing the check box for a phase also clears those for that phase's associated tasks. (You can clear the check box for the project to clear the check boxes for all lower level WBS elements. However, you cannot continue until you reselect at least the project.)

If you are creating a project from an existing project and copying the billing terms from that project and you choose not to copy some phases or tasks, some billing terms settings that are related to, or dependent on, those phases or tasks may be changed as a result. Review the billing terms carefully after you create the new project to make sure that they are set correctly.

Regular/Overhead/Promotional Project: Name This field displays the names of the phases and tasks in the WBS that you are copying.
Linked Promotional Project: Number If you are also creating a linked promotional project for a regular project, this column displays the promotional project number. If you are creating the promotional project from a project or template with lower WBS levels, this column also displays the phase and task numbers in that WBS. Clear the check boxes for the phases and tasks that you do not want to include in the new promotional project. Clearing the check box for a phase also clears those for that phase's associated tasks. (You can clear the check box for the project to clear the check boxes for all lower level WBS elements. However, you cannot continue until you reselect at least the project.)

If you are creating the promotional project from an existing project and copying the billing terms from that project and you choose not to copy some phases or tasks, some billing terms settings that are related to, or dependent on, those phases or tasks may be changed as a result. Linked Promotional Project: Name This field displays the names of the phases and tasks in the WBS that you are copying to create the linked promotional project.
