User-Defined Hub Summary Layout Tab

Use the Layout tab to choose the types of formatting properties and visual characteristics to be displayed on your report.

Document Properties

Use the fields in this section to select the unit of measurement and page layout (size, margins, and orientation) of the report. The unit of measurement that you select on the Layout tab is also applied to other tabs for the report.

Field Description
Unit of Measure

Select the unit of measure (inches or millimeters) to use for the measurement fields on the report. Vantagepoint applies the unit of measure the following report dimensions:

  • Top, Bottom, Left, and Right margin fields.
  • Width and Height fields under the Page Size field.
  • Paper Orientation radio buttons.
  • Indent First Column and Indent for Each Group, and column width fields on the Columns and Groups tab.
  • Chart Height, Chart Width, Top Alignment, and Left Alignment fields on the Chart tab.

When you switch from one unit of measure to the other, the measurements that are currently entered or displayed in the measurement fields are automatically converted to the new unit of measure (1 inch = 25.4 millimeter). If your unit of measure is inches, use decimals for fractions of an inch (for example, 0.75 or 1.20)

Show Condensed View for Dashparts Use this toggle to show or hide a condensed view for dashparts. The following are the main formatting characteristics:
  • The report header information is displayed in the lower-left corner of the final report page.
  • The default font size is applied to the report title, replacing the larger font that is normally used.
  • Page headers and footers are not displayed.

You normally do not use this option except when you want to display the archive report as a dashpart. When Vantagepoint displays an archive report as a dashpart, it does not actually run the report, so it cannot automatically apply the dashpart report layout as it does with other reports. As a result, you must use this option when you generate the archive report if you want the normal dashpart report layout.

Margin fields Specify the report margins in inches or millimeters based on which one you selected in the Unit of Measure field.
Paper Orientation Specify the paper orientation for the report by selecting one of the following options:
  • Automatic Based on Report Columns: Select this option to have the number of columns included in the report determine the orientation.
  • Portrait: Select this option to use a portrait orientation for the report. An error message is displayed and the report is not generated if there are too many columns to fit.
  • Landscape: Select this option to use a landscape orientation for the report.
2nd Page Top If your report provides this option, specify the margin for the top of the second page.
Page Size Select the page size for the report. If you select Custom as the page size, the Width and Height fields become enabled.
Width and Height Fields When you set the page size to Custom, use these fields to specify page measurements of your own choosing. The width and height measurements display in inches or millimeters, based on which one you selected in the Unit of Measure field on this tab.

Font and Border

This section consists of fields that enable you to select font styles as well as borders and alternating color options for the report.

Field Description
Font Use this option to change the font for the report. You establish the default font on the Reporting tab of My Preferences.
Alternate Row Color Some reports are easier to read with alternating colored rows. Use this option to display alternating row colors for the report grid. You can use the color palette to display alternating row colors for the report grid in a couple of ways:
  • If you know the HEX color code of the color, enter the value in the field. Vantagepoint displays the color and its associated HEX code in the field.
  • Click in the field to display the HEX color palette that shows a mosaic of all the available colors and their names. Click the color block to apply to the alternate row. The HEX color and its associated code are displayed in the field.

You can also use the HEX color tool for the Heading Background Color field.

Show Border Lines on Report Some reports are easier to read with border lines displayed. To generate the report with border lines separating sections and data fields, select this check box.

Header and Footer

This section consists of options for formatting the text and reporting periods included in headings and footers on the report.

Field Description
Override Heading Dates For the Period To specify different period dates for the report heading, select this check box to enable the Start Date and End Date fields and use them to specify a new reporting period. By default, these fields show the starting and ending dates for the accounting period that you selected from the Period Ending option on the toolbar.
Heading Background Color Select a background color for the report row that displays column headings. Use this option to make the headings stand out from the rest of the report data. To select a heading row background color, you can use the color palette in a couple of ways:
  • If you know the HEX color code of the color, enter the value in the field. Vantagepoint displays the color and its associated HEX code in the field.
  • Click in the field to display the HEX color palette that shows a mosaic of all the available colors and their names. Click the color block to apply to the heading row. The HEX color and its associated code are displayed in the field.
Memo field Enter text to display in the report footer. Do not remove the [version] - [options] portion of the footer. You can use the text editor to format the text.

Number, Date, and HTML Formatting

This section consists of options for formatting currency, number, and date field formats for a report.

Field Description
Default Format The default format settings are set by your administrator in User Settings. Click this field and select a different format to apply global date, currency, and number formats to your report. If you select a different culture, Vantagepoint automatically displays the default formats associated with that culture in the Number, Currency, and Date fields.
HTML Formatting This check box applies only to memo fields. By default, HTML formatting (bold, underlining, colors, and so on) is applied to the contents of all memo fields on a report based on the formatting applied when the text was originally entered in each memo field.

Clear this check box if you do not want to apply HTML formatting. As a result, when you print or display text in all memo fields, Vantagepoint removes all text formatting. You may want to do this if, for example, the formatting was applied inconsistently during data entry or the formatting is unsatisfactory for some other reason.

You can also turn on or turn off HTML formatting for a memo field on a report. On the Columns &/or Groups tab, go to a memo field on the Columns grid, click the blue hypertext link to display the Format Text dialog box, and select the Plain Text option.

Number Setting Sample This shaded field displays the default format for each numeric field on the report. Click to open the Format Number dialog box. Alternatively, you can change the format for an individual report column on a report via the Columns grid on the Columns &/or Groups tab.
Currency Setting Sample This shaded field displays the default format for each currency field on the report. Click to open the Format Currency dialog box. Alternatively, you can change the format for an individual report column on a report via the Columns grid on the Columns &/or Groups tab.
Date/Time Setting Sample This shaded field displays the default format for each date and/or time field on the report. Click to open the Format Date/Time dialog box. Alternatively, you can change the format for an individual report column on a report via the Columns grid on the Columns &/or Groups tab. Click the blue hypertext link to open the Format dialog box associated with either non-currency number, currency, or date and/or time settings.
