Contents of the Section 179 Review Form

Use the fields and options on this form to view a listing of all the asset items that have had a section 179 deduction applied to them for a specific tax year for a specific additional book.

Field Description
Select Tax Year Select the tax year for the asset items and section 179 deduction amounts that you want to view. The drop-down list includes all the tax years that you set up on the Section 179 tab in Settings > Accounting > Asset Management.
Select Book Select the additional book for the section 179 deduction. This drop-down list displays any additional books that your enterprise has entered and designated for section 179. The Section 179 check box for an additional book must be selected on the Additional Books tab in Settings > Accounting > Asset Management for the book to be included on this list.
Section 179 Limit This field displays the section 179 deduction limit for the selected tax year and book. This amount is entered on the Section 179 tab in Settings > Accounting > Asset Management for the tax year that you entered in the Select Tax Year field on this form. You cannot edit this amount in Section 179 Review.

Section 179 Asset Allocations Grid

This display-only grid lists the asset items that have section 179 deduction amounts entered for them for the tax year and additional book that you specified at the top of this form, but only if the asset item's in-service date is within the tax year specified in the Select Tax Year field on this form. The section 179 deduction amount for an asset item is entered in the Less Section 179 Deductions field on the Additional Books tab in the Equipment hub. An asset item's in-service date is entered in the In Service Date field on the GL Book tab in the Equipment hub.

Section 179 Asset Allocations Drop-down

Click the drop-down arrow on a grid header to complete any of the following actions:

  • To print grid data, click Print. On the Print Preview form, click File > Print to send the grid data to your default printer.
  • To export grid data to an Excel spreadsheet, click Export to Excel. When Microsoft Excel opens, use its features to modify, print, or email the grid data, or to save the spreadsheet file locally.
  • To turn on grouping for a grid, click Enable Grouping. When a field displays with the instruction: "Drag a column header here to group by that column," drag and drop column headers into the field, in the sequence that you want them to display.

Not all options are available on all grids.

Equipment Description This field displays the asset item's description that is entered in the Equipment hub.
Equipment Number This field displays the equipment item number that is entered in the Equipment hub.
In Service Date This field displays the in-service date for the asset item, which is entered in the In Service Date field on the on the GL Book tab in the Equipment hub. The grid displays only those asset items with an in-service date that falls within the tax year entered in the Select Tax Year field on this form.
Amount This field displays the Section 179 deduction amount that is entered for the asset item in the Less Section 179 Deductions field on the Additional Books tab in the Equipment hub.
Total The last line of the grid displays the total amount of the deductions.
