  • Phrase:Returns all topics that contain the exact phrase in the search criteria. Use quotation marks around the phrase.
    Ex."system administration"
  • And:Returns all topics that contain all the words in the search criteria, in any combination. Insert a plus sign between all words in the search criteria.
    Ex.system + administration
  • Or:Returns all topics with any combination of words in the search criteria. This is the default.

Change Durations on a Gantt Chart

If you have project modification rights, you can change the durations of WBS elements directly on the Gantt chart.

This option is only available if the Resource Planning module is activated.

To change WBS element durations on the Gantt chart:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Hubs > Projects > Plan.
  2. On the Schedule tab of the Plan form, select the project for which you want to view the Gantt chart.
  3. On the Actions bar, click Check Out.
  4. Expand the structure to display the plan rows for which you want to change duration dates.
  5. Move the cursor over the left or right end of the Gantt bar until the cursor changes to the horizontal arrow.
  6. Left-click the mouse, drag the end of the bar right or left on the chart, and release the mouse button.

    As you drag the Gantt bar, the new dates display in the tool tip and Vantagepoint also updates the Plan Start or Plan End dates and Duration values on the left grid. If the selected plan element impacts any parent or child levels, those dates also change.

    • If there are no planned hours for the element or its children, a completion message displays at the top of the page and the process is complete when you release the mouse button.
    • If there are planned hours for the element or its children, the Reschedule Plan Dates dialog box displays when you release the mouse button.

    Check-in note: If someone else checks in the plan while you are moving the Gantt bars, you are notified that the plan has been checked in and your changes will not take effect.

  7. If there are planned hours associated with the plan element or any children, select how the hours should be handled on the Reschedule Plan Dates dialog box:
    • To redistribute the planned hours evenly for any assignments for the plan element for which the assignment dates must change to fall within the new plan date range, select Redistribute Hours Evenly on Changed Assignments.
    • To keep the current distribution of planned hours, select Don't Redistribute.

      Note that if any of the planned hours extended beyond the new duration dates, this selection is prohibited. You must either change the new dates or elect to redistribute the hours.

    If you also select Replace All Child Dates with New Parent Dates, the plan dates or assignment dates for all the child rows are adjusted to match the new plan dates.
  8. Click Reschedule to apply the changes.

    When the process finishes, a completion message displays at the top of the page.

    After verifying the validity of all changes, Vantagepoint does the following:
    • Changes the affected plan dates or assignment dates.
    • Redistributes planned hours and amounts. If hours are moved to a date range in which the resource already has planned hours, the rescheduled hours are distributed proportionally across that date range based on the distribution of the preexisting planned hours.
    • Updates the values displayed in all planning grids to reflect the new schedule.
