  • Phrase:Returns all topics that contain the exact phrase in the search criteria. Use quotation marks around the phrase.
    Ex."system administration"
  • And:Returns all topics that contain all the words in the search criteria, in any combination. Insert a plus sign between all words in the search criteria.
    Ex.system + administration
  • Or:Returns all topics with any combination of words in the search criteria. This is the default.

Create a New Vantagepoint Contact in Connect for Gmail

You can create new contact records based on information from email messages that you receive in Gmail. These contacts can then be synchronized with Vantagepoint so that the contact record is created in Vantagepoint and the information is seamlessly shared between the two applications.

When you open the Context Pane, the Vantagepoint information is shown for the sender and recipients of the email message, if they exist as contacts in Vantagepoint. If the sender or recipients are not recognized as Vantagepoint contacts, you can create a contact.

Based on the selected email message, the contact's email address and associated firm (if available) are added to the respective fields on the Context Pane.

To create a contact record based on an email:

  1. In the Context Pane, click Create Contact.
    The contact fields display in the Context Pane.
  2. If you open an email that has an email address that does not yet exist in Vantagepoint, you can use the Create Contact button that displays in the context pane.
    Connect will pre-fill with the new contact's information; for example, name, title from the signature, phone from signature, and firm based on the email domain.
  3. Enter details for the new contact.

  4. Optional: Associate email attachments with the Vantagepoint contact as file attachments and select the Attachments check boxes to save file attachments.
  5. Click Save to save the contact information to Vantagepoint.

    After the next synchronization, the new contact record is added to Gmail.

    Your Vantagepoint security rights apply to Connect for Gmail. If you have the appropriate security rights, you can also create a new firm for this contact.
