Import Bank Transactions

When you import transactions from your bank statement, you can import bank transactions from a text file, such as a .txt or .csv file.

Prerequisites: Before you can import transactions, you must do the following:
  • Set up a bank in Settings > Cash Management > Banks.

This includes completing the configuration on the Import tab of the Banks form. You specify the data (fields) to import from the file and the formatting of data.

  • Obtain the file that contains bank transaction data from your bank. Many banks allow you to download the information from a secure bank website. You must convert it to a file format that matches the import file configuration that you set up.

If the bank transaction contains numeric values (for example, transaction amount) with blank spaces, Vantagepoint removes the spaces during import.

  • Remove data from the import file that you do not want to import. If there is data in the import file that does not match pre-defined fields, define these fields on the Import tab of the Banks form.
  • Create a bank statement in Cash Management > Bank Reconciliation, to which you will import bank transactions.

To import transactions from a bank statement:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Cash Management > Bank Reconciliation.
  2. On the Bank Reconciliation form, select an existing bank reconciliation record.
  3. Click Import Transactions.
  4. If you previously imported transactions for a statement and a dialog box asks you to confirm the overwriting, click Yes to proceed.
  5. On the Import Statement dialog box, click Browse.
  6. On the Open dialog box, select the .txt or .csv file that you want to import and click Open.
  7. On the Import Statement dialog box, click Save.
The import process begins. The Import Statement dialog box identifies the number of valid records in the text file to import.
  8. Click Import.
  9. On the dialog box that informs you that the records were imported, click OK.
The imported bank transactions display on the Import tab of the Bank Reconciliation form.
