Entering Start and End Times by Day for Timesheets

You can input start and end times for each day rather than specifying hours at the project level.

Some companies prefer to have employees simply enter the Start Time and End Times by day and not break them down to the row or project level.

To configure employee timesheets to accept start and end times by day, a system administrator must:
  • Grant access to timesheets as specified in Settings > Security > Roles.
  • Do the following in Settings > Time > Options:
    • Set Enable Start/End Time to Yes
    • Set Start/End Time Entry to By Day.
  • Select Require employee to Enter Start and End Times on the Time & Expense tab of the Employee hub for the employee record.
When these settings are configured, you see when you hover over the day/date column heading on the Timesheets form. The icon color indicates timesheet status as follows:
  • When you have specified start and end times, a clear displays for that respective day.
  • When you have only input hours into a cell, a red displays to alert you that start and end times need to be specified.
  • When Hours Worked month/day do not equal the Hours Recorded on Timesheet, a red displays to alert you that these hours need to be reconciled. When you specify a start and end time, the amount at the bottom of the drop-down box is the total hours worked for the day based on the start and end times that you entered for the day.
