Select Colors and Lines for Sort Bands

Many Vantagepoint reports provide options for sorting and grouping data. For those reports, you control the colors used to represent sort bands and the lines separating sort groups. These features make the reports easier to review.

The line you select for a sort group displays above the header for the group on the report. When the next group is displayed, there is a line after the subtotal for the group immediately preceding it. All data for a single group, from header through subtotal, display between lines of the same type. The last sort group does not have a line after the subtotal.

If you select the Dot Line option in Line Separator, dotted lines display as lines of short dashes when you preview the report. However, when you print the report, they display as dotted lines.

To specify the colors and lines for a sort band:

  1. Depending on your report, click the Columns tab or Columns & Groups tab.
  2. Click the Sorting/Grouping grid and select the grouping for which you want to specify colors and lines.
  3. Click the Color column for the sort level.
  4. Using the color tool, select the color that you want for the sort level.
An example of the color displays in the column.
  5. Click in the Line Separator column for the sort level and select the type of line to display between sort groups.
