Define the Default Currency Format for All Currency Columns on a Report

To accommodate companies located or doing business in countries other than the United States, Vantagepoint provides default formats for currency amounts on reports. You can then modify the default formats for individual reports.

The Layout tab for a report displays the default currency format for the report. That format, in turn, becomes the default format for each currency field on the report. Alternatively, you can modify the format for individual currency columns on the Columns grid via the Columns &/or Groups tab.

To define the default currency format for a report:

  1. Click the Layout tab on a report.
  2. Navigate to the Number, Date and HTML Formatting section at the bottom of the Layout tab.
  3. On the Currency Setting Sample, click to open the Format Currency dialog box.
  4. In the Decimals Places field, enter the number of decimal places you want for the currency amounts.

In some cases, Vantagepoint uses a fixed number of decimal places for a column. If you specify a different number, it has no effect on the format of amounts in those columns.

  5. In the Negative number field, specify how you want the report to indicate negative amounts.
  6. In the Apply To field, click to apply the currency formats to either This field only or All fields that contain currency information on the report.
  7. On the Digit Grouping field, select either the 1234 (No grouping) or 1,234 option.
  8. On the Zero Number field, specify how you want to indicate zero values: display 0, display a short dash (-), or leave the space blank.
  9. Select one of the following options to display (or not display) currency symbols or currency codes with amounts:
    • Do not display: No currency symbol or code displays with amounts. If you select this option, the Symbol Location field is disabled.
    • Use currency symbol: A currency symbol displays with amounts.
    • Use currency code: A three-character currency code displays with amounts (for example, USD 1,234).
  10. In the Symbol Location field, select Left or Right to indicate where to display the currency symbol or currency code.
  11. Click Save.
The Currency Setting Sample displays the modified format.
