Define the Default Date and Time Format for a Report

To accommodate companies located or doing business in countries other than the United States, Vantagepoint provides default date and time format for reports. You can then modify the default date and time formats for individual reports.

The Layout tab for a report displays the default date and time format for the report. That format, in turn, becomes the default format for each date field on the report. You can modify the default format on the Layout tab. Alternatively, you can modify the format for individual date and/or time columns on the Columns grid via the Columns &/or Groups tab.

To define the default date and/or time format for a report:

  1. Click the Layout tab on a report.
  2. Navigate to the Number, Date and Formatting section at the bottom of the Layout tab.
  3. On the Date/Time Setting Sample at the far right, click .
The Format Date/Time dialog box opens.
  4. In Type, indicate if you want the default to be the short, medium, or long date, the date and time combination, or the time. The Type you select determines which Date and/or Time Separator fields are available.
  5. In Date Separator field, select a separator from the drop-down list. If you want to use a separator that is not in the drop-down list, type the separator character in the field.
  6. To determine how date formats are displayed on the report, select the following check boxes:
    • Display Day: Select if you want to display the day in the date format.
    • Display Month: Select if you want to display the month in the date format.
    • Display Year: Select if you want to display the year in the date format.
    • Display Four Digit Year: Select if you want dates to display all four digits of the year.
    • Display Leading Zeros: Select if you want dates to include leading zeros when the days or numerical months are less than 10.
  7. In Date order, select the order in which you want Vantagepoint to display the day, month, and year components of the date.
  8. In Time Separator, select a separator from the drop-down list. The time separator is the character that separates hours from minutes, and minutes from seconds. If you want to use a separator that is not in the drop-down list, type the separator character in the field.
  9. Select 24-hour clock (1:00 p.m. displays as 13:00) check box, if you want times displayed based on a 24-hour clock rather than a 12-hour clock.
  10. Select Display AM/PM check box, if you want an a.m. or p.m. indicator displayed as part of the time.
  11. Click Save.
The Date/Time Setting Sample displays the modified format.
