Define the Default Number Format for a Report

Vantagepoint provides default formats for non-currency numbers on reports.

The Layout tab for a report displays the default non-currency number format for the report. That format, in turn, becomes the default format for each non-currency numeric field on the report. Alternatively, you can modify the format for individual number columns on the Columns grid via the Columns tab, Groups tab, or Columns & Groups tab.

To define the default non-currency number format for a report:

  1. Click the Layout tab on the report.
The Number field in the Default Format group box displays the current default number format.
  2. On the Number Setting Sample, click .
The Format Number dialog box opens.
  3. In the Type field, select Number or Percent.
  4. In the Decimals Places field, enter the number of decimal places you want for the numbers.

In some cases, Vantagepoint uses a fixed number of decimal places for a column. If you specify a different number, it has no effect on the format of amounts in those columns.

  5. In the Negative number field, specify how you want the report to indicate negative amounts.
  6. On the Digit Grouping field, select either the 1234 (No grouping) or 1,234 option.
  7. On the Zero Number field, specify how you want to indicate zero values: display 0, display a short dash (-), or leave the space blank.
  8. Click Save.
The Number Setting Sample displays the modified format.
