Import a Dashpart

Import shared dashparts from clients or consultants to your dashboards so that you can view the contents.

These steps are not applicable when you are using Vantagepoint on a tablet or smart phone.

You must have the appropriate access rights, as well as module availability, to be able to display or import a dashpart. If you are unable to import a dashpart, check that your user role has access rights to the dashpart that you are trying to import (as specified in Security Settings) and that the needed Vantagepoint modules are enabled and available to you.

The import dashpart process requires a valid dashpart file with the DPT file format. The dashpart file can contain one or more dashparts.

To import a dashpart:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select My Stuff > Dashboards.
  2. On the Dashboard form, click Edit Mode to enable editing.
    The availability of the Edit Mode option is determined by your access rights in Security Settings.

    The Edit Mode toggle option is not enabled when you are using a tablet or smart phone to access Vantagepoint.

  3. On the edit mode toolbar, click Import/Export.
  4. On the Import/Export Dashparts dialog box, click Import.
  5. On the Import Dashparts dialog box, click Browse.
  6. On the file selection dialog box for your browser, locate and select the dashpart (DPT) file to be imported.
    The file selection dialog box closes and the selected DPT file displays in the Browse field of the Import Dashparts dialog box.
  7. Click Import.
    The newly imported dashpart is displayed in the Dashpart Library with a slightly darker row color for 48 hours.
