Add a Link to the Links Grid

Use the Links grid to link one or more external text files, graphics files, or email messages to a hub record. When you add a file link to the Links grid, Vantagepoint creates a hyperlink between the link path specified in the Link Path field on the grid and the file.

This tab name changes from Files & Links to Links when FileStream (a Microsoft SQL Server feature) is not in use.

If you use the Vantagepoint on-premises product, the Files and Links tab applies only if Transaction Document Management is configured. For more information, see the Supporting Documents and Files online help topic.

To add a link to the Links grid:

  1. Click +Add Link to add a URL to the Links grid.
Use this option to link web sites, FTP sites, email addresses, and newsgroups to the current record. If a web site, FTP site, email address, or newsgroup location changes, the hyperlink in this field no longer works.
  2. Enter a brief description of the file link or URL, to help you distinguish it from other files.
  3. Complete one of the following actions, depending on the contents of the Link Path field:
    • If the complete link path for an external file displays, click the path to open the file link from the external location where it is stored.
  4. To edit a file link path or URL, right-click it and then click the Edit option.
  5. If the associated file link is a graphics file, select the Graphic check box.
This is selected by default if the file has one of these extensions: jpeg, jpg, tif, tiff, gif, bmp, or png. See the Proposals section of the help for more information.
