The Withholdings by Category report contains a standard set of columns. You cannot select columns for this report.

Contents

The header area of the report displays the W-2 year and W-2 quarter for which you generated the report. The body of the report displays withholding information for each employee.

Field Description
Withholding Code This column displays the code that identifies a type of withholding from the employee's pay. You assign withholding codes to employees on the Payroll tab of the Employees hub.
Employee Number/Name This column displays the employee's identification number and name.
Method This column displays the method used to calculate withholding amounts:
  • Amount: Vantagepoint withholds a fixed amount. The Amount or Percent column displays that amount.
  • System: Vantagepoint calculates withholding based on the default method set up for the type of withholding in Payroll Settings.
  • Percentage: Vantagepoint withholds a specified percentage of the employee's pay. The Amount or Percent column displays that percentage.
Amount/Percent This column only displays if you do not select Include Taxable Wages on the Options tab.
  • If the Method column contains Amount or Percentage, this column displays the amount or percentage of wages withheld.
  • If the Method column contains System, this column is blank.
Limit This column only displays if you do not select Include Taxable Wages on the Options tab.

If the withholding has a limit on the amount that is withheld, this column displays that maximum amount.

An asterisk ( * ) next to a limit amount indicates that the limit is an aggregate limit that is linked to another type of withholding.

Additional Amount This column only displays if you do not select Include Taxable Wages on the Options tab.

If an amount is withheld for the employee in addition to the withholding amount that Vantagepoint calculates, this column displays that amount.

Examples: An amount to supplement federal or state withholding amounts to guard against under-withholding, or an amount to compensate for withholding too much or too little for prior paychecks.
