Change Revenue Generation to Track One Unbilled Account

If you currently track multiple unbilled services and uninvoiced revenue accounts with revenue categories, you can switch to track one set of accounts.

To track one set of accounts:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Settings > Accounting > Revenue.
  2. On the Revenue settings form, set the Enable Revenue Categories option to No.
  3. Modify the Unbilled Services and Uninvoiced Revenue fields that you want to use to track multiple accounts.
  4. Click Save.
After you save these settings, Vantagepoint shows these changes:
    • The six standard revenue methods display in the Standard Methods grid on the User Defined Revenue form in Settings > Accounting > User Defined Revenue.

The user-defined revenue methods that previously had a Labor revenue category display in the User Defined Methods grid. The Category column does not display in the grid.

    • On the Accounting tab of the Projects form in the Projects hub, the Revenue Method field displays the revenue method from the first revenue category (Labor) in the Revenue Categories section on that tab. The Revenue Categories section does not display.
  5. Review the calculation formula for each revenue method.
Most likely, you will need to adjust the calculation to make it applicable for all of the project's revenue instead of one revenue category for the project.
  6. Review the balance in the unbilled services account on the Balance Sheet.
Most likely, you will need to make a journal entry to adjust the balance.
