Use the Links grid to link one or more external text files, graphics files, or email messages to a hub record. When you add a file link to the Links grid,
Vantagepoint creates a hyperlink between the link path specified in the
Link Path field on the grid and the file.
This tab name changes from Files & Links to
Links when FileStream (a Microsoft SQL Server feature) is not in use.
If you use the
Vantagepoint on-premises product, the Files and Links tab applies only if Transaction Document Management is configured. For more information, see the
Supporting Documents and Files online help topic.
To add a link to the Links grid:
-
Click
+Add Link to add a URL to the Links grid.
Use this option to link web sites, FTP sites, email addresses, and newsgroups to the current record. If a web site, FTP site, email address, or newsgroup location changes, the hyperlink in this field no longer works.
-
Enter a brief description of the file link or URL, to help you distinguish it from other files.
-
Complete one of the following actions, depending on the contents of the
Link Path field:
- If the complete link path for an external file displays, click the path to open the file link from the external location where it is stored.
- If the complete HTTP, FTP, email, or newsgroup address for a URL displays, click the address to go to the Web, FTP, or newsgroup site, or to open and send an email message.
-
To edit a file link path or URL, right-click it and then click the
Edit option.
This disables the hyperlink feature and allows you to edit the information in this field.
-
If the associated file link is a graphics file, select the
Graphic check box.
This is selected by default if the file has one of these extensions: jpeg, jpg, tif, tiff, gif, bmp, or png. See the Proposals section of the help for more information.
