Edit the Firm Hierarchy

You can edit the firms and levels in any firm hierarchy, to reflect changes in parent-subsidiary relationships between firms or agencies.

Firm hierarchies are enabled by default, but your system administrator can disable the feature in Settings > General > Firm Hierarchy.

You can view a firm hierarchy regardless of your security role's access rights, but you must have edit access rights to the firm and its child firms in order to edit the hierarchy.

To edit the firm hierarchy:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Hubs > Firms > Firms.
  2. On the Firms form, use the search field above the firm name to search for and select the firm that you want to open.
    If you are linking many firms, open the top-most firm in the hierarchy.
  3. Click the firm hierarchy icon to the right of the name and then click Edit.
    On the Firm Hierarchy dialog box, the name of the parent firm displays at the top level of the hierarchy.
  4. Select the firm that you want to edit.
    A firm drop-down list and a edit toolbar are displayed on the firm entry.
  5. Use the edit options to change the hierarchy:

    Firm drop-down list Select a new or different firm for the selected level of the hierarchy.
    + Click + to add a new level to the hierarchy. This enables the Firm drop-down list for the new level.

    A maximum of 5 levels in a firm hierarchy can be enabled. For more information. see Establish Firm Hierarchy Levels.

    and Use these options to indent or outdent the firm on the hierarchy.
    and Use these options to move the firm to a higher or lower level on the hierarchy.
    X Click this option to remove the firm from the hierarchy.
  6. Click Save.
