Using the Help Search
  • Phrase:Returns all topics that contain the exact phrase in the search criteria. Use quotation marks around the phrase.
    Ex."system administration"
  • And:Returns all topics that contain all the words in the search criteria, in any combination. Insert a plus sign between all words in the search criteria.
    Ex.system + administration
  • Or:Returns all topics with any combination of words in the search criteria. This is the default.

Clear a Search

You can remove a search expression from a saved or legacy search in order to select and build a new search.

Prerequisites: Create a new search or open an existing search.

To clear a search:

  1. Click Advanced Settings to see the advanced options for building a custom search.
  2. On the Select Searches list, click to display the list of your saved and legacy searches.
  3. Click to open a saved or legacy search.
  4. On the Actions bar of the Edit Search dialog box, click Clear Search to remove the search expression.
    Vantagepoint removes the search expression and the name of the saved or legacy search.
