Contents of Release Notes
These release notes address all of the modules associated with Deltek Vantagepoint 2.0, some of which your firm may not use. Skip the sections that do not apply to your implementation of Deltek Vantagepoint.
Vantagepoint supports a number of languages in addition to English. The Vantagepoint forms, dialog boxes, and reports display information in the language selected when you log in to Vantagepoint. Vantagepoint 2.0.3 now includes multilingual licenses so that all languages are enabled for Vantagepoint 2.0.3 databases. For details, see Multiple Languages in the online help.
Note that users can choose a language which had not previously been licensed. However, those who do so will encounter many cases where user-entered data is not translated. Your administrator should update the translations for fields for any new languages that your users plan to employ.
Previously, you could use reverse charge taxes only for AP vouchers and AP disbursements. Now, you can also use reverse charge taxes for employee expenses. This applies for expense reports and employee expenses that you enter in My Stuff » Expense Report and Transaction Center » Transaction Entry » Employee Expenses.
You specify that a tax code is a reverse charge tax and it can be used for expense reports and employee expenses by completing the following settings on the Options tab of the Tax Codes settings form in Settings » Cash Management » Tax Codes:
In the Inputs section, select Employee Expenses.
In the Non-Recoverable Tax section, select Reverse Charge Tax.
The reverse charge tax code is included in the list of tax codes that you can select for an expense line item in the Expense Report and Transaction Entry applications. When you select a reverse charge tax code for an expense item in the items grid on the entry form in either application, you see the following in the grid:
The reverse charge tax amount is included in the Total Tax Amount column.
The amounts in the Net Amount and Payment Amount columns are not decreased by the reverse charge tax amount.
These calculations are also reflected for reverse charge taxes on the following reports: the Transaction List report, the Posting logs, the Detailed Expense report, the Summarized Expense report, and the Tax Analysis report.
For more details, see the Reverse Charge Tax information in the Options Tab of Tax Codes Settings help topic.
The new Search feature in the Screen Designer allows you to quickly locate fields in Screen Designer. The search includes both the captions and field IDs for the Screen Designer Summary Pane and tabs. The captions are the actual names that display on the Screen Designer forms, and the field identifiers are the database column names for each field.
Hiding Essential Fields in Hubs and in Chart of Accounts SettingsEssential fields in hubs and in Chart of Account Settings are fields that are necessary for Vantagepoint’s applications to work properly. When you try to hide an essential field using Screen Designer, you receive a message that warns you about possible unexpected results. You can still hide the field, but to prevent any unexpected results, Deltek recommends that you do not hide essential fields.
In Screen Designer, when you hide non-essential and essential fields, the fields are also secured, which adds another layer of protection. The data for secured fields stays on the Vantagepoint server and is not pushed to users’ computers. However, when an essential field is secured, unexpected results may occur when users who belong to the role use other Vantagepoint applications that require the essential field.
Alternative, safe approach: A safe way to hide an essential field from a role, without causing possible unexpected results, is to hide the tab that contains the essential field, or to move the essential field to a tab that you can hide. You can create a user-defined tab for this purpose. Essential fields on hidden tabs are not secured, so they are still available to the applications that need them, but the users who belong to the role do not see the tab and all the fields on the tab.
For a list of essential fields and how to hide them safely, see Essential Fields in Vantagepoint.
