Fields & Data Objects Widget

Enter keywords in the Search field to find data objects and fields to add to your report.

You access the Fields & Data Objects widget on the Tools Report Action menu (Tools >> Fields & Data Objects), or by clicking the Add Columns button.

Enter key terms in the Search field. Then from the results, add objects or fields to your report by dragging them into the Report Working Area, or by clicking a field's Add this field to my report link. As you add fields, their required object(s) are automatically added, as necessary. To view or modify your report's objects, click the object title, then click Join Conditions to launch the Report Objects widget.

Field Description
Widget ToolbarWidget Toolbar At the top of every widget are three action icons:
  • Details:Expands a panel with information about how to use the widget to build your report.
  • Refresh: Updates and reloads the content.
  • Close: Closes the widget.
Search Objects & Fields/ Join data objects automatically Drop-down Select one of three ways to search data, and choose whether to join data automatically:
  • Select how to search data: Search Objects & Fields, Search Objects Only, Search Fields Only.
  • Join data objects automatically: Select whether or not to let the Reporting Tool create joins automatically.
Field Description
Search Enter a keyword or phrase to find fields or objects for your report. Results display in different sections, depending on the type of data:
  • Your Report Object's (with Search Matches): These results are the objects already in your report that matched your search.
  • Search Results (Smart Chains):These results are objects that match your search but are not yet in your report. The most relevant results display first. These are often marked with a yellow icon. Yellow objects high trust multi link objects, Multiple Linked Objects High-Trust, are objects commonly searched for. They contain multiple objects built with pre-defined joins, for your convenience. Green objects Multiple linked objects also contain multiple objects based on the Data Dictionary and programmatic logic, but not necessarily business logic.
  • Search Results (Data Objects): Single data objects that match your search display in this section.
Note: After you drag/add a field not yet in your report, remember it will now move to the Your Report Object/s section.
Your Report's Objects

This section shows objects already used in the structure or columns of your report. These objects are marked by a mauve icon Objects in Your Report.

Data Object Catalog This section lists all Talent Management data objects alphabetically. When you perform a search, the list is narrowed to only data objects that match your search term(s). These objects are marked by a blue icon Root Data Objects.
Suggested Additions These objects are closely related to your current report. Browse to find useful information and add it to your report.
Notable Objects These are the most common objects in your database, based on the objects they share keys with.
Color Key Use this key to identify types of objects.
