Define Permissions for a Group

This procedure to define permissions that a group must have to access the options within the Open Plan application.

To define permissions for a group:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select SECURITY > Groups.
    By default, Groups Detail View displays. To switch between views, click (Groups List View) or (Groups Detail View) at the upper portion of the form.
  2. Find and select the group that you need to update.
    You can use the Find Group field at the top of Groups Detail View. You can also click at the upper-right corner of the grid on Groups List View to filter and search for groups.
  3. On the Groups Detail View, select the OPEN PLAN tab.
  4. For the menu item to which you want to set permission, select any of the following options:
    • Visible — Select this option to allow members of a group to view the selected menu item(s). Selecting this option allows you to see but not use the menu item. If you set a parent node to invisible and one of the child nodes to visible, the parent permission resets automatically to visible.
    • Enabled — Select this option to allow the members of the group to use the selected menu item(s). If you select Enabled and not Visible, you cannot view the menu item but can perform the corresponding process; that is, if that process is available using a different way other than the menu, for example, through the API.

    By default, all menu items on this tab are visible and not enabled.

    You can the export the tree of securable menu items for each group.

  5. When you are done, click Save.
