Contract Item Types
Learn more about the common contract item types that you can create for projects. Depending on how a project is configured, some items may not be available. Additionally, custom items may be available.

| AI | Architect's Instruction
An instruction from an architect to a contractor. For example, a request to vary or postpone the works, remedy something that is not in accordance with the contract, sanction a variation made by a contractor, open up work for an inspection, and so on. |
| CAI | Contract Administrator's Instruction
An instruction from a contract administrator to a contractor. For example, a request to vary or postpone the works, remedy something that is not in accordance with the contract, sanction a variation made by a contractor, open up work for an inspection, and so on. |
| EXT | Extension of Time
A request to extend the construction period where there is a delay which is not the fault of a contractor. |
| FVC | Final Valuation Certificate
A certificate provided by the contract administrator to state that a construction contract has been fully completed. |
| IVC | Interim Valuation Certificate
A mechanism for the client to make payments to a contractor before completion of the work. |
| MGD | Making Good Defects Certificate
An instruction to a contractor to resolve defects within a reasonable time. |
| NCC | Non-completion Certificate
Formal notice to a contractor when they have failed to complete the works described in the contract by the agreed completion date. |
| PCC | Practical Completion Certificate
A certificate to signify that all works described in the contract have been carried out. |

| CEN | Compensation Event Notification
Notice of any events that delay the project, and which result in compensation to the contractor. |
| EWN | Early Warning Notice
An early warning notice of anything that may delay the works, or increase costs. |

An instruction from a project manager to a contractor. |

| RFI | Request for Information
A request for information from one party on a project to another party. For example, a request for information from the contractor to the client's consultation team, or from a sub-contractor to a contractor. |
| RFP | Request for Proposal
A request for an overview of offerings and costs from vendors. |
| TQ | Technical Query
A technical request from one party on a project to another party. For example, a request for technical information from the contractor to the client's consultation team, or from a sub-contractor to a contractor. |

A confirmation record of a verbal instruction from a contract administrator to a contractor. |

A report that details specification deviation, or work that fails to meet quality standards. |
| SI | Site Instruction
A formal instruction that contains directives for contractors. |
| VO | Variation Order
An alteration to the scope of works in a construction contract. This may include additions, substitutions, or omissions. |
Submittals
Submittals are used to perform checks and balances during the construction phase of a project. This ensures that the end result conforms to the specific project design, and meets the expectations of the owner. Submittals are usually raised by a contractor, or by an architect on behalf of a contractor.
