Clone a Document

You can clone an existing document in the DMS to use as a basis for a new document if an appropriate template is not available.

To clone a document:

  1. Navigate to the Information Zone.
    If Smart View is not enabled, use the Smart View slider to toggle it on.
  2. Search for the document.
    For information, see Searching for Documents.
  3. Click > Clone document.
  4. Optional: On the Clone Document window, update the document title, revision number, and associated document pools, if required.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Optional: In the Document Details step, update the document details.
  7. Click Finish.
    The document opens in the associated application.
  8. Modify the content of the document, and then save it.

Postrequisite: After you clone a document, you must complete the procedure to Check in a Document.
