Adding Files to Placeholders

When you receive controlled files for a project, you can add them to document placeholders within DLM. This allows you to control and manage documents for a project, and issue them to selected recipients.

You can add files from your PC, and files already published to the DMS, such as file attachments published through the Outlook add-in. When you add a file to the DLM, the system attempts to match the file with an existing placeholder. This allows you to supersede current documents with new versions. In most circumstances, the revision should be changed to enable the comparison between revisions. When you supersede a document that has been shared externally then you are required to change the revision in order to maintain proper records and avoid errors. If a matching placeholder is not found, you are prompted to create one.
