Historical Data Load (Employee Analytics)

Purpose

Your entry in Number of Periods Back under Historical Data Load controls the number of historical fiscal periods for which actual performance data is loaded into Costpoint Analytics – Employee when you run the load process.

This setting applies to the Labor Utilization Analytics.

Project Analytics

You select a separate range of periods for project analytics in Costpoint Analytics – Project Configuration that applies to both the detailed project analytics and the summary project analytics in Costpoint Analytics – Summary. The two ranges need not be the same.

Preparation

In Actuals Up Through, select the latest fiscal period for which you want to load actual performance data. See Current Period Option (Employee Analytics) for more information.

Initial Configuration

When you set up Costpoint Analytics, you load all of the historical actual performance data that you want to be available when you begin using the Labor Utilization Analytics. To do that, use the Number of Periods Back field under Historical Data Load to select the number of historical fiscal periods for which you want to load actual performance data.

For example, select 24 if you want to load actual performance data for the fiscal period selected in Actuals Up Through and for the 23 previous fiscal periods.

The maximum number of historical periods you can load is 60.

Ongoing Administration

Firms generally load data for the project analytics after each fiscal period ends and complete actual performance data is available for it in Costpoint. For the Labor Utilization Analytics, however, you may want to load data on a more frequent schedule as new labor data becomes available in Costpoint. (For more information on loading labor utilization data more frequently than once each period, see Loading Labor Utilization Data More Frequently.)

In either case, do the following to transfer data to Costpoint Analytics – Employee:

  1. In Actuals Up Through, select the fiscal period for which you want to load data.

  2. Make sure that Number of Periods Back is set to 1.

  3. Continue with the remainder of the data load process so that the actual performance data for that period is available in Costpoint Analytics.

If you want to load employee labor data without also loading project data, run the Load_Employees_and_Summary_Data.bat file rather than the Full_CpA_Data_Load.bat file.

Load_Employees_and_Summary_Data.bat also loads employee labor data into Costpoint Analytics – Summary so the same information is available for both the summary Labor Utilization Analytics and the detailed analytics.

In rare cases, you may find it necessary to load more than one period of actual performance data. To do that, select the appropriate number of periods in Number of Periods Back.
