Empl Hrs Ceil Subtask

Use this subtask to impose a ceiling on the number of hours, by employee/by labor category, that are used in the calculation of revenue and billings for a project.

These ceilings are used in the calculation of any Loaded Labor Hours formulas. You cannot enter separate hours ceilings for revenue and billings.

Enter ceiling hours here at an employee/labor category level only. These ceilings are separate from any ceilings that are required at the higher labor category level. Entry of ceilings at both levels could cause a conflict.

Use this subtask to set up ceilings on employee hours used in the calculation of billing and revenue. Complete this subtask after you have set up the project on the Basic Info tab and after you have set up the PLCs on the Manage Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen. Additional maintenance is required only if an hours ceiling changes, or when a new one must be added.

This subtask is also available as a standalone application: Manage Employee Hour Ceilings.

Field Description
Employee

Enter, or click to select, the employee to whom the ceiling hours apply. The same employee can appear more than once in this column, provided you identify a separate labor category. If you selected the Project Work Force Required check box on the Basic Info tab, you can enter only employees set up on the Manage Employee Work Force screen in this field. This is a required field.

Employee Name

This non-editable column displays the last name of each employee in the Employee column. The employee name is defined on the Manage Employee Information.

Labor Category

Enter, or click to select, the Project Labor Categories (PLCs) to which ceiling hours are applied.

If you selected the Project Work Force Required check box on the Basic Info tab, you must also set up the PLC for the project for the employee on the Assign PLC to Employee Work Force subtask of the Manage Employee Work Force screen.

If you selected both the Project Work Force Required and the Use Top Level Work Force check boxes on the Basic Info tab, you must also set up the PLC for the employee for the top level of the project on the Assign PLC to Employee Work Force subtask. Note that the Use Top Level Work Force check box does not apply to ceilings. The revenue and billing programs look only at the revenue and billing levels or below. These programs do not look to the top level of the project for ceilings if the Use Top Level Work Force check box is selected. This check box applies only to PLC validation and defaulting.

You can enter any valid PLC that was set up on the Manage Project Labor Categories (PLC) screen provided you did not select the Project Work Force Required check box on the Basic Info tab.

This is a required field.

Hours Ceiling

Enter the ceiling hours for the Employee/Labor Category combination. Ceiling hours can be a positive number or zero. A blank is translated to a "0.00" hour ceiling. To ensure that no ceiling hours are imposed for a given combination, make no entry on that row.
