Contents of the Create/Update Rough-Cut Capacity Plan Screen

Use the fields and options to configure the Create/Update Rough-Cut Capacity Plan screen.

Identification

Use the fields in this block to create a new parameter ID or to retrieve a previously saved parameter ID. A parameter ID represents a set of screen selection parameters. After you have saved a parameter ID and its related parameters, you can retrieve them using Query.

You can use the retrieved parameters to produce reports and run processes more efficiently and with greater consistency. The saved parameters are also useful and necessary when you want to run the process as part of a batch job. Many users save a unique set of parameters for each different way they run a report or process. When you select a previously saved parameter ID or parameter description, the associated saved screen selection parameters automatically display as selection defaults. The page setup and print options, if there are any, are also included in the saved parameter ID. You can change any of the associated selection defaults as necessary.

Field Description
Parameter ID

Enter, or click to select, a parameter ID of up to 15 alphanumeric characters. Choose characters for your parameter ID that help identify the type of selections you made on the screen, such as PERIOD or QUARTERLY.

When you save your record, all the selections made on the screen are stored with the parameter ID. Later, you can retrieve the parameter using Query.

You can use the parameter to run the process more efficiently because you can select the parameter ID with its previously defined screen selections. After the default selections display on the screen, you can override the defaults.

Enter, or click to select, a parameter description of up to 30 alphanumeric characters.

This field always displays One.

Start

Enter, or click to select, the MPS plan for which you want to generate a rough-cut capacity plan. Enter P (Production) if you want to see a rough-cut capacity plan for the official production plan. The MPS plan code determines the forecast demand quantities used when calculating planned load.

If you select any other MPS plan code, the official production plan is not affected, but MPS still considers firmed sales order and reservation demand.

Key Resource

Use the options in this group box to specify which key resources to include in the process and on the report.

Option

Use the drop-down list to select the range of key resources to be included. Available options are:

  • All
  • One
  • Range
  • From Beginning
  • To End

 The default is All.

Start

Enter, or click to select, the key resource identifier that is the starting point of resources to be processed and printed. If you select All or From Beginning in the Option field, this field is not available.

End

Enter, or click to select, the key resource identifier that is the end point of resources to be processed and printed. If you select All (the default), One, or To End in the Option field, this field is not available.

Sort By

1st Sort

From the drop-down list, select the sorting criterion:

  • Key Resource: The report sorts by key resource, then by week.
  • Resource Type: The report sorts first by resource type, then by key resource, and then by week.
  • Week: The report sorts by week, then by key resource.

Options

Field Description
Report Type

From the drop-down list, select the type of report you want to generate:

  • Summary: The report displays capacity and load by key resource and week. It also breaks out load quantity by independent demand type (sales orders, reservation, and forecast). This is the default.
  • Detail: In addition to the information displayed in the summary report, the detail report displays the load broken out by the end item and inventory abbreviation contributing to the weekly load quantity.
Include Forecast Demand

Select this check box to include MPS forecasted requirements (including sales and user-defined forecast demand) generated for the selected key resources. If this check box is not selected, any load driven by forecast requirements is excluded from the report and the report's load percentage calculation. However, the forecast load quantity is still stored and available to be viewed on the View Rough-Cut Capacity Plan screen.

Report Date Cutoff

Enter the latest scheduled date to include in the report. This is an optional field. If you enter a date in this field, the report excludes weeks with an end date later than the one you specify.

Load Percentage Threshold

Enter the minimum load percentage (weekly load divided by capacity) you wish to use to filter weekly figures on the report. For instance, if you enter a threshold of 100%, you will only see load information displayed for weeks where the key resource load equals or exceeds its capacity. If you leave the load threshold as zero, you see all load quantities for all weeks for all selected key resources.
