Field Description
Policy Type

From this drop-down list, select the policy type that indicates the lot sizing technique to be used for this provisional part. If you convert the part to a standard part, the policy type is used in Costpoint Material Requirements Planning (MRP). This field defaults from the selection in the Default Order Policy drop-down list on the Configure Product Definition Settings screen to one of the system-defined selections as follows:

  • Min/Mult Lot Size: You must specify a lot size for meeting net requirements. When you select this option, enter a minimum or multiple lot size for the calculated planned order to meet net requirements.
  • Order to Point: The inventory reorder process will automatically place a purchase requisition for this part whenever the inventory quantity is less than or equal to the reorder point.
  • Period: The lot size must equal net requirements for the specified number of shop calendar days. This selection also activates the Period Order Days field.
  • Reorder Point: The inventory reorder process will automatically place a purchase requisition for this part whenever the quantity on hand is reduced to or below the specified level (the Reorder field).
  • Discrete Lot Size: The planned order quantity must always equal the quantity of the net requirement.
Period Order Days

If you selected Period in the Policy Type field, enter the number of shop days for which MRP combines net requirements to create a planned order.

Minimum/Reorder

This field is titled Reorder if you selected Reorder Point in the Policy Type field.

If this field is titled Minimum, enter a minimum lot size. The calculated planned order must always be at least equal to the specified lot size when meeting net requirements.

Examples:

  • If you need 10 and the minimum lot size is 12, the planned order is 12.
  • If you need 15 and the minimum lot size is 12, the planned order is 15.

The Minimum field is not available if you selected Discrete Lot Size, Order to Point, or Reorder Point in the Policy Type field.

If this field is titled Reorder, it displays the quantity that is requisitioned when a part reaches its reorder point.

Maximum

Enter the maximum quantity that can be placed in any one order. If the order quantity is greater than the maximum quantity, it is split into several orders, each not exceeding the maximum quantity.

Multiple

Enter a multiple lot size. The quantity for any calculated planned order must always be a multiple of this number when meeting net requirements.

Examples:

  • If you need 10 and the multiple lot size is 12, the planned order is 12
  • If you need 15 and the multiple lot size is 12, the planned order is 24

This field is not available if you selected Discrete Lot Size, Order to Point, or Reorder Point in the Policy Type field.

Default Scrap %

Enter the scrap percentage for this part. This is your estimate of the percentage of these parts that will be accidentally destroyed, lost, or otherwise rendered unusable. The scrap percentage defaults for all BOM lines that list this part as a component.

Yield %

Enter the estimated yield (%) of a manufacturing order for this part for planning purposes. The default for this required field is 100.00, but you can change it to any value between 0.00 and 999.99. The yield percentage defaults for all BOMs that list this part in the assembly.

Total Lead Time

This field displays the total lead time calculated by the Lead Time subtask. It is the sum of all lead time types selected in that subtask. Costpoint updates this total when you modify the lead time selections.
