EBOM Chng Assy Subtask
This subtask is enabled if the Action Code is Add, Replace, or New Rev and the Change-To Part is populated for the selected line on the main screen.
Use this subtask to view and update the EBOM assemblies that use the original part. If there are EBOMs that use this component in Costpoint Bills of Material, this subtask will default the existing assembly parts without the Action Code.

Details
If the Action Code for the selected line in the main screen is Add or Replace and the Original Part is a component in an EBOM assembly, the Change-To Part displays in the Component Part field, but those assemblies in which the Original Part is a component display in the table window without an Action Code. If the Replace in All BOMs column is Y for the selected line in the main screen and you open this subtask, the system displays the following message:
"Warning: Modifications made on this screen may overwrite modifications created by the Replace in BOM function."
This warning means that if you modify this subtask, only those modifications will be saved for the affected assembly, even if the Replace in All BOMs check box is selected for the line on the main screen. However, if you do not add a line or modify an existing line in this subtask, the Change-To Part will replace the Original Part in all EBOMs where the Original Part exists as a component. In this case, all EBOM assemblies and configurations from the original part/revision in the main screen will be copied based on the starting and ending effective dates once you have run the Apply Engineering Change Notices screen.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Action Code |
Select from the drop-down list the action this ECN will perform. You can select either Add, Change, or Delete. This field is optional. The default is Add for newly added lines or lines that are copied from another assembly. |
Line |
Enter up to four digits of the line number to identify the specific EBOM component line. This field is required. |
Find |
Enter the drawing find number of this EBOM component line. Upon populating the Line field for a new line, this field will default with zeroes, but can be modified. For example, if you enter 3 in the Line field, the Find field will default to 0003. This field is required. |
Assembly Part |
Enter, or click to select, the assembly part ID that uses the component part displayed in the header. This field must contain a valid part ID from the Manage Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition. If the Original Part for the selected line in the main screen is a component in an EBOM assembly, this field displays the assembly part. You can add new assembly parts. |
Revision |
Enter, or click to select, the assembly part revision that uses this component. This field must contain valid revision code from the Manage Parts screen. |
Assembly Description |
This field displays the assembly part description. |
Part Security |
This field is visible only if the Use Part Data Security Controls check box is selected on the Configure Product Definition Settings screen, which indicates that the replacement part is subject to data security restrictions, as defined in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). If enabled, this field displays one of the following values to indicate whether the assembly part is subject to part data security restrictions and whether you have the necessary authorization to access information for that part:
|
Component Type |
From the drop-down list, select the component type code. Valid options are:
The default is the component part type from the Manage Parts screen (for standard parts) or the Manage Provisional Parts screen (for provisional parts). |
Quantity Type |
From the drop-down list, select the quantity type code.
This Quantity Type field is for the component part. If you have selected the As Required check box on the Manage Parts screen for the component part, or the Component Type is Reference, the default for this field is As Required. If the Component Type is Tool, the default for this field is Per Order. Otherwise, the default is Per Assembly. |
Quantity |
Enter the component part quantity required in the EBOM. The default is 1. If the Quantity Type is As Required, the default is zero. If you enter a number other than zero, an error message displays. |
Make/Buy |
From the drop-down list, select the designation to indicate whether the part will be manufactured or purchased. Valid options are:
The default is the component part's make/buy designation from the Manage Parts screen. |
Configuration |
Enter, or click to select, the ID of the configuration in which this component will be used when planning this EBOM. If you make an entry, it must be a valid BOM configuration ID from the Manage Configuration Identifiers screen in Costpoint Bills of Material. This field is hidden if you did not select the Use Configuration IDs check box on the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen. |
Configuration Description |
This field displays the configuration description from the Manage Configuration Identifiers screen. This field is hidden if you did not select the Use Configuration IDs check box on the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen. |
Effective Starting Date |
Enter, or click to select, the date on which this component will become effective in this EBOM. This field defaults with the Suggested Effective Date on the Details tab of the main screen, or the Effective Date (from the selected line on the main screen) if the Suggested Effective Date is blank. This field defaults with the current system date if both the Suggested Effective Date and Effective Date are blank. |
Effective Ending Date |
Enter, or click to select, the date on which this component will cease being effective in this EBOM. This field defaults with the EBOM component's Effective Ending Date (if the date exists). If this date is earlier than the current date but later than the Effective Starting Date, the system displays a warning message when you tab out of this field. If this date is earlier than the Effective Starting Date, the system displays an error message. |
Component Released |
Select this check box to release this component in this EBOM. The default value is determined by the option selected in the EBOM Release Control - Default Component Release Status in Bill group box on the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen in Costpoint Bills of Material. Note: In an EBOM, provisional component parts can be released, and therefore the EBOM status can be released. However, you cannot release provisional component parts in an ECN. You must convert the provisional part to a standard part in the Convert Provisional Part to Standard Part application in Product Definition (and release it in the EBOM or ECN); otherwise, the EBOM can be
Unreleased only if provisional parts exist.
|
Reference Designators |
If you did not select the Use Extended Length Reference Designators check box on the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen, enter up to 254 alphanumeric characters of reference designator text for this component on this assembly. However, if you selected the Use Extended Length Reference Designators check box, you can enter up to 32,000 alphanumeric characters. This field displays any reference designator text that was assigned for the component part line in the Component Reference Designators subtask on the Manage Engineering Bills of Material or Release Engineering Bills of Material screen. |
Component Comments |
Enter any comments that apply to this EBOM component. This field displays any comments already entered for the EBOM component. |
Assembly Provisional Part Type |
If the assembly part is a provisional part, this field displays the provisional part type that is assigned to the provisional part ID. You can modify this field only on the Manage Provisional Parts screen. If the assembly part is a standard part, this field is blank. |
Assembly Part Status |
This field displays the assembly part Status Type from the Manage Parts screen (for standard parts), or Provisional for provisional parts. You can also modify the Part Status for the EBOM on the Manage Engineering Bills of Material or Release Engineering Bills of Material screens. |
Omit Requirements |
Select this check box to exclude material planning processes from planning material requirements. If the component is a Buy part, and the Component Type is not Buy With Component, this check box defaults as selected. If the Component Type is Reference or Tool, this check box also defaults as selected. |
Stop Explosion |
Select this check box to prevent material planning processes from planning any components of this subassembly part. If the Component Type is Reference or Tool, this check box defaults as selected. |
Scrap |
Enter the anticipated scrap percentage used when planning material requirements. The default is the component part scrap percentage from the Manage Parts screen. |
Copy Data |
Select this check box to copy all other original EBOM data to a new line. This check box is clear by default. You can only select this check box for lines that have defaulted from a copied EBOM. |
