MBOM CHNG ASSY

This subtask is enabled if the Action Code is Add, Replace or New Revision and the Change-To Part is populated for the selected line in the main screen. Use this subtask to view and update the MBOM assemblies that use the Original Part. If there are MBOMs that use this component in Costpoint Bills of Material, this subtask will load the existing assembly parts without the Action Code.

Component

Part

This field displays the change-to part ID from the main screen.

Rev

This field displays the change-to part revision from the main screen. The field to the right displays the part description (from the Manage Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition).

Part Status

This field displays the change-to part status from the main screen.

UM

This field displays the default inventory unit of measure code for the change-to part from the main screen

Part Security

This field is visible only if the Use Part Data Security Controls check box is selected on the Configure Product Definition Settings screen, which indicates that the replacement part is subject to data security restrictions, as defined in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

If enabled, this field displays one of the following values to indicate whether the component part is subject to part data security restrictions and whether you have the necessary authorization to access information for that part:

The features in this release relating to Part Data Security are intended to assist your company in achieving ITAR compliance. However, it is each company’s responsibility to confirm that it is meeting its obligations with respect to ITAR or other applicable requirements. Deltek does not warrant that use of this functionality will result in compliance.

Details

If the Action Code for the selected line in the main screen is Add or Replace, and the Original Part is a component in an MBOM assembly, the change-to part displays in the Component Part field, but those assemblies in which the original part is a component display in the table window without an Action Code. If the Replace in All BOMs column is selected on the main screen line and you open this subtask, the system displays the following message:

Warning: Modifications made on this screen may overwrite modifications created by the Replace in BOM function.

This warning means that if you modify this subtask, only those modifications will be saved for the affected assembly, even if the Replace in All BOMs check box is selected on the line in the main screen. However, if you do not add a line or modify an existing line in this subtask, the Change-To Part will replace the Original Part in all MBOMs where the Original Part exists as a component. In this case, all MBOM assemblies and configurations from the original part/revision in the main screen will be copied based on the starting and ending effective dates once you run the Implement ECN Changes screen.

Action Code

From the drop-down list, select the action this ECN will perform. Valid options are:

The default is Add for newly added lines or lines that are copied from another assembly.

Line

Enter up to four digits of the line number to identify the specific MBOM component line in this required field.

Find No

Enter up to four alphanumeric characters for the drawing find number of this MBOM component line in this required field. Upon populating the Line field for a new line, this field will default with zeroes, but can be modified. For example, if you enter 3 in the Line field, the Find No field will default to 0003.

Assembly Part

Enter, or click to select, the assembly part ID that uses the component part displayed in the header. This field must contain a valid part ID from the Manage Parts screen. If the Original Part for the selected line in the main screen is a component in an MBOM assembly, this field displays the assembly part. New assembly parts can be added.

Assembly Rev

Enter, or click to select, the assembly part revision that uses this component. This field must contain a valid revision code from the Manage Parts screen.

Assembly Description

This field displays the assembly part description.

Component Type

From the drop-down list, select the component type code in this required field. Valid options are:

The default is the component part type from the Manage Parts screen.

Quantity Type

From the drop-down list, select the quantity type code. Valid options are:

This Quantity Type field is for the component part. If you have selected the As Required check box on the Manage Parts screen for the component part, or the Component Type is Reference, the default for this field is As Required. If the Component Type is Tool, the default for this field is Per Order. Otherwise, the default is Per Assembly.

Quantity

Enter up to 14 digits in this required field, including two digits after the decimal point, for the component part quantity required in the MBOM. The default is 1. If the Quantity Type is R, the default is zero; if a number other than zero is entered, an error message displays.

Make/Buy

From the drop-down list, select wthere this component is manufactured or purchased. Valid options are:

The default is the component part's make/buy designation from Manage Parts screen.

Configuration

Enter, or click to select, the ID of the configuration in which this component will be used when planning this MBOM. If entered, this must be a valid BOM configuration ID from the Manage Configuration Identifiers screen in Costpoint Bills of Material. This field is hidden if you did not select the Use Configuration IDs check box in the BOM Corporate Settings subtask of the BOM Settings screen in Costpoint Bills of Material.

Configuration Description

This field displays the configuration description from the Manage Configuration Identifiers screen. This field is hidden if you did not select the Use Configuration IDs check box on the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen in Costpoint Bills of Material.

Effective Starting Date

Enter the date on which this component will become effective in this MBOM. This field is required and can be modified. This field defaults with the Suggested Effective Date in the ECN Detail subtask, or the Effective Date (from the selected line in the main screen) if the Suggested Effective Date is null. This field defaults with the current system date if both the Suggested Effective Date and Effective Date are null.

Effective Ending Date

Enter the date on which this component will cease being effective in this MBOM. This field defaults with the MBOM component's Effective Ending Date (if the date exists). If this date is earlier than the current date but later than the effective starting date, the system displays a warning message when you tab out of this field.

If this date is earlier than the Effective Starting Date, an error message displays.

Component Released

Select this check box to release this component in this MBOM. The default value is determined by the option selected in the MBOM Release Control - Default Component Release Status in Bill group box on the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen.

Reference Designators

If you did not select the Use Extended Length Reference Designators check box on the Configure Bills of Material Settings screen, enter up to 254 alphanumeric characters of reference designator text for this component on this assembly in this optional field. However, if you selected the Use Extended Length Reference Designators check box, you can enter up to 32,000 alphanumeric characters in this field. This field displays any reference designator text that was assigned to the component part line in the Component Reference Designators subtask of the Maintain MBOM and Release MBOM screens.

Component Comments

Enter of any comments that apply to this MBOM component in this field. This field displays any comments already entered for the MBOM component.

Assembly MBOM Release Status

This field displays the assembly part release code selected on the BOM Status field of the Manage Manufacturing Bills of Material or Release Manufacturing Bills of Material screens in Costpoint Bills of Material. Valid values are:

This field displays the assembly Part Status Type from the Manage Parts screen in Costpoint Product Definition. You can also modify the part status for the MBOM in the Manage Manufacturing Bills of Material or Release Manufacturing Bills of Material screens.

Omit Requirements

Select this check box to exclude material planning processes from planning material requirements. If the component is a buy part, and the Component Type is not Buy With Component, this field defaults as selected. If the Component Type is Reference or Tool, this field also defaults as selected. Otherwise, the default is clear by default.

Stop Explosion

Select this check box to prevent material planning processes from planning any components of this subassembly part. If the Component Type is Reference or Tool, the check box defaults as selected. Otherwise, the default is clear by default.

Scrap

Enter the anticipated scrap percentage used when planning material requirements. The default is the component part scrap percentage from the Manage Parts screen.

Copy Data

Select this check box to copy all other original MBOM data to a new line. You can only select this check box for lines that have been loaded from a copied MBOM.
