Use this subtask to establish a list of substitute parts for any part you've already created.
A substitute part is similar enough to be interchangeable with one or more internal/original parts without alteration. Substitute parts are used in the Project Requirements screen link and the Part Project Data screen (Materials\Maintain\Items) for materials planning purposes, as well as other applicable functions throughout Costpoint.
Note: You must first establish the substitute
part in the Basic Info screen of the Parts User
Flow before you can enter any additional information for it in this screen. |
Use this screen after initialization of new parts and entering planning data. Maintain it when you make additions or changes to substitute parts.
Sequence *
Enter a numeric value, up to three characters, to assign the order of preference of the substitute part for the specified part.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the substitute part.

Enter the revision of the substitute part, if applicable.
If a revision was previously assigned to the substitute part elsewhere in the Parts User Flow, it is displayed here.
Select this checkbox to indicate that this substitute part is completely interchangeable with the specified component. Otherwise, leave this checkbox blank.
This non-editable field displays the description corresponding to the substitute part ID in the Substitute Part field.
Use the Notepad icon to view the entire description of the substitute part, if necessary.
This non-editable field displays the U/M (unit of measure) assigned to this substitute part.
The U/M displayed in this field is established in the Basic Info screen of the Parts User Flow.
This non-editable field displays the Make/Buy status assigned to this substitute part in the Basic Info screen of the Parts User Flow.
"B" indicates a part that is bought from a vendor. "M" indicates a part that is manufactured.
Changes to this screen update the PART (Parts) and SUBST_PART (Substitute Parts) tables.
