Use this screen to define control settings for the operation of the serial/lot tracking portion of Costpoint Inventory. You can enter and report serial numbers of parts delivered on a customer order and/or parts tracked in inventory. You can record serial numbers only for parts that are flagged as requiring SO Configuration Tracking in the screens in the Part Master (Materials » Product Definition » Part Master) menu, or in the Serial/Lot Disposition subtask of the Enter Sales Order Inventory Issues (Materials » Inventory » Issues) screen. You can maintain the Enter Sales Order Inventory Issues screen in both Costpoint Sales Order Entry (Materials » Sales Order Entry » Sales Order Material Processing) and Costpoint Inventory.
Set up this screen when initializing the system and before processing inventory transactions, and maintain it whenever you need to change serial/lot settings.
Select this checkbox to enable serial/lot tracking capabilities in Costpoint Inventory and ultimately for transactions in Costpoint Sales Order Entry. Clear this checkbox to disable all options in this screen.
Select this checkbox to calculate warranty expiration from the standard vendor terms of the part.
Select this checkbox to calculate the shelf life expiration date by adding shelf life days to the receipt date.
Use the selections in this group box to specify the uniqueness of serial numbers.
Click this option to prevent serial numbers from being reused by parts with the same part number.
Click this option to prevent serial numbers from being reused by any part.
Use the selections in this group box to specify the uniqueness of lot numbers.
Click this option to prevent lot numbers from being reused by another lot with the same part number.
Click this option to prevent lot numbers from being reused by any part's lot.
This group box displays the method of assigning serial/lot numbers for buy and make parts. It also keeps track of the last serial/number if it is system assigned.
Use the selections in this group box to determine the method for assigning serial/lot numbers for buy parts.
Use this group box to determine the method used for assigning lot numbers to Buy inventory parts.
Click this option to automatically load a lot number that is one greater than the number entered in the Last Lot Number field as the default.
Click this option if you do not want the system to load any default lot numbers for received PO parts.
Click this option to automatically load a lot number that is one greater than each part's Last Lot Number as the default.
Click this option to load the lot number based on the vendor's lot number.
Enter the ID to be used as the starting point for auto-assigning Buy part lot numbers. You can use up to 20 alphanumeric characters, the last four of which must be numeric for incrementation to be automatic.
Use the selections in this group box to determine the method used for assigning serial numbers to buy inventory parts.
