Use this screen to replace all instances of one component (or subassembly) with another throughout an entire MBOM or EBOM. You can specify both the "From" Component and the "To" Component provisional part/revision and/or standard part/revision combinations. The Component MBOMs/ EBOMs Where-Used subtasks display a single-level, where-used table that displays the effect of the change and where the components are used.
Choose how the mass change is to be implemented, either by fully replacing the "From " component part with the "To" component part, or by replacing the "From" Component part/revision using a date effectivity. You can also replace out-of-effectivity components.
You cannot release an assembly if there are unreleased subassemblies for MBOMs and/or EBOMs in the Component MBOMs/EBOMs Where-Used subtasks, respectively. Unreleased lower-level assemblies must have a "Released" BOM Status in the Maintain MBOM or Release MBOM screens or Maintain EBOM or Release EBOM screens before the higher-level assemblies can be released on a given multi-level MBOM/EBOM.
Use this screen to replace one part with another in existing MBOMs and EBOMs.
The fields in this group box provide details about the component to be changed.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the ID of the component part to be changed. You can also select the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton if the Engineering checkbox is selected in the BOM Type group box. This required field of up to 30 alphanumeric characters must be a valid part standard or provisional part ID in Costpoint Product Definition. A description of the part selected displays in the untitled field below this field.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the revision of the component part to be changed. You can also select the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton if the Engineering checkbox is selected in the BOM Type group box. This field can have up to three alphanumeric characters, which must be a valid standard or provisional part revision ID in Costpoint Product Definition.
This field displays the "M" (Make)/"B" (Buy) status of the component.
This field displays the release status of the component to be changed. This field will display "Provisional" for provisional parts.
This field displays the assembly part type code from Basic Part Data screen in Costpoint Product Definition: "B" (Buy with Components), "S" (Standard), ""P" (Phantom), "R" (Reference), and "T" (Tool).
This field displays the military specification number of the component to be changed.
This field displays the national stock number of the component to be changed.
This field displays the Commercial and Government Entity code of the component to be changed.
The fields in this group box provide details about the new component.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the part number of the new component.
Enter, or use Lookup to select, the revision of the new component. You can also select the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton if the Engineering checkbox is selected in the BOM Type group box. This field displays the Commercial and Government Entity code of the new component.
Use this group box to specify conditions under which the mass component change is to occur.
Select this radio button to replace the From Component part with the To Component part regardless of whether or not it is still within effectivity.
Choose this radio button to add the To Component part to the BOM as of the date entered in the adjacent field. The From Component part will be in the BOM, but is rendered out-of-effectivity starting on this date.
If you select this checkbox, the From Component parts that are out of effectivity will be affected by the mass change.
If you elect not to do a complete replace of the From Component with the To Component (where the Completely Replace From Part with To Part radio button is not selected), you can select this checkbox to copy the existing BOM text for the From Component to the To Component.
Use this group box to customize the mass update with either Manufacturing Bills of Material (MBOMs) or Engineering Bills of Material (EBOMs) based on the selected component part(s).
Select this checkbox to update the MBOM(s) for this component. You can populate the component Part field only with standard parts when this checkbox is selected, thus disabling the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton.
Select this checkbox to update the EBOM(s) for this component. This checkbox is available if the Use Engineering Bills of Material checkbox is selected in the BOM Settings screen. If you select this checkbox and place your cursor in the component Part/Rev fields, the Lookup Prov Part pushbutton will be enabled so that you can look up provisional parts to populate this field. You can also enter, use Lookup to select, a standard component part that will populate the component Part field.
Select this pushbutton to view the Component MBOMs Where-Used subtask, which contains the assemblies in which the From Component part is currently found.
Select this pushbutton to view the Component EBOMs Where-Used subtask, which contains the assemblies in which the From Component part is currently found.
Select this pushbutton to look up a provisional part for the From and To component Part/Rev fields. If you selected the Engineering checkbox in the BOM Type group box and you place the cursor in the From and/or To component Part/Rev fields, this pushbutton is enabled so that you can look up a provisional part. This subtask is disabled if you selected the Manufacturing checkbox.
Select this button on the toolbar to preview the mass component change process (as it currently exists in the system). Selecting this button will not execute the process.
Select this button on the toolbar to print the mass component change process (as it currently exists in the system) from your designated print source. Selecting this button will not execute the process.
Select this button on the toolbar to begin the mass component change process. Operating in accordance with the selections in the Configuration Options group box, the system searches all MBOMs and EBOMs that contain the From Component part, and either fully replaces the From Component part with the To Component part, or replaces the From Component part/revision using a date effectivity. You can also choose (in the Configuration Options group box) to replace out-of-effectivity components. The update process halts if the From Component part does not exist in any BOMs.
Select this button on the toolbar to execute the mass component change process and print the report.
