Enhancements

This section includes enhancements in this release.

County Field and Work Zip Code Field Cleared When Changing SUTA State

On the SUTA Options dialog box, the County field and Work Zip Code field are now cleared after you change the state in the Year SUTA section on the Employee Name window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Employee Maintenance) where the county and work zip code are not applicable.

Vacation and Sick Maximum Hours Used

The following enhancements were made related to vacation and sick payroll information:
  • The following enhancements were made on the Vacation Accrual Rules window or Sick Accrual Rules window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Work on Sick/Vacation Pay > Work on Vacation Accrual Rules or Work on Sick Accrual Rules):
    • The Maximum Hours per Year field was renamed to Maximum Accrued Hours per Year.
    • You can now specify annual maximum hours used in the Maximum Hours Used per Year field.
    • Beside the Maximum Hours Used per Year field is a drop-down field where you can select Warn or Disallow to configure Print Checks/Post Payroll.
      • If Warn is selected, a warning message now displays on the screen suggesting you reference the payroll register for employee details of time entries that will result in exceeding the Maximum Sick or Vacation rule in the pay run.
      • If Disallow is selected, an error message now displays on the screen when generating the payroll register, and the payroll register will display the employees with time entries that will result in exceeding the Maximum Sick or Vacation Rules in the pay run. Print Checks/Post Payroll will not be allowed until the offending entries are resolved.
  • When applicable after printing a Payroll Register on the Print Checks/Post Payroll window (Payroll System > Print Checks/Post Payroll), the error or warning messages in the Attention Needed dialog box are now updated to be more specific.
  • In the printed Payroll Register, you can now find information about the error or warning message exception type.

Credit or Return Amount for Work on Reimbursable and Non-Reimbursable Expenses

On the Expense window (Accounts Payable > Expense Management > Work on Non-Reimbursable Expenses), you can now enter a negative value in the Amount field as a credit or return amount.

Removal of FFCRA Related Options and Fields on Relevant Windows

The following Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) related options and fields were removed from the Labor Distribution window (Payroll System > Enter Labor Distribution by Employee or Enter Labor Distribution by Job):
  • When you right-click the white space in the employee section, the FFCRA option for adding a table column
  • The FFCRA field and Reg. Rate field on the Payroll Entry window, Week Entry window, and Grid Entry - Employee Name window
  • The FFCRA option on the Configure Time Entry window and Configure Grid Entry window
  • The ffcratype option and ffcraregrate option on the Labor Distribution Import Layout - Company Name window

Also, on the Department Code window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Department Maintenance), the FFCRA Credit Offset Account field and FFCRA Tax Liability Offset Account field were removed.

Colorado FAMLI, Paid Leave Oregon, and Washington PFML Form W-2 Reporting

The following Form W-2 enhancements were made for Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI), Paid Leave Oregon, and Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML):
  • When you print a Form W-2 on the Print State Copies dialog box (Payroll System > Reports > Tax Reporting > Work on W-2s > Print W-2s > Print State Copies), Colorado FAMLI, Paid Leave Oregon, and Washington PFML are excluded from the state income tax withheld. Also, Colorado FAMLI, Paid Leave Oregon, and Washington PFML are now reported in Box 14 of Form W-2.
  • When you generate an electronic Form W-2 on the Create Magnetic Media File window (Payroll System > Reports > Tax Reporting > Work on W-2s > Create Magnetic Media File > State Info), Colorado FAMLI, Paid Leave Oregon, and Washington PFML are excluded from the state income tax withheld.

Form 1096 and Form 1099 for 2023

You can now print Form 1096 and Form 1099 for 2023.

FICA Wage Base and Federal Withholding Tables

ComputerEase now uses the FICA wage base and federal withholding tables for 2024.

To access the FICA wage base and federal withholding tables, click Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Tax Rate Maintenance > Federal Tax Table Maintenance. Then, on the Federal Tax Table Maintenance dialog box, enter 2024 and click OK.

State Withholding Tax Tables and Rates

ComputerEase now uses the 2024 withholding tax tables and rates of the following states:
  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Kentucky
  • Maine
  • Nebraska
  • Oklahoma
  • South Carolina

To view a withholding tax table or rate, click Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Tax Rate Maintenance > State Tax Table Maintenance. On the State Tax Table Maintenance dialog box, enter a state. And then, on the Year State Code Tax Settings window, click the appropriate tab.

SUTA Wage Bases

ComputerEase now uses the updated default SUTA wage base of the following states for 2024:
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Iowa
  • Missouri
  • Montana
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Nevada
  • Oregon
  • Vermont
  • Utah
  • Washington
  • Wyoming

To view the wage base of a state, click Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Tax Rate Maintenance > State Tax Table Maintenance. On the State Tax Table Maintenance dialog box, enter the state code. And then on the 2024 State Code Tax Settings window, click the SUTA tab.

Head of Household Filing Status Option for Arkansas State Tax

On the Arkansas State Tax dialog box, you can now select Head of Household in the Filing Status field. You can access the Arkansas State Tax dialog box by clicking the ellipsis menu in the Withholding section on the Employee Name window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Employee Maintenance).

California State Disability Insurance (SDI) Wage Base

ComputerEase now uses the updated default SDI wage base of California for 2024.

To view the SDI wage base of California, click Payroll System > Maintenenance Programs > Tax Rate Maintenance > State Tax Table Maintenance, enter CA, and then, on the 2024 State Code Tax Settings window, click the SUTA tab.
