Enhancements

This section includes enhancements in this release.

WA Family Leave Report Updates

For the updates of WA Cares reporting requirements effective October 1, 2023, you can now view the following information in the WA Family Leave Report (Payroll System > Reports > Tax Reporting > State Paid Family Leave Reports > WA Family Leave Report):
  • Employees that are participants in PFML or Cares or both
  • PFML gross taxable wages
  • PFML Exempt column and Cares Exempt column containing yes or no information
  • When PFML or Cares participation is unknown, a warning message is included in the report
  • When the Date of Birth field is blank on the Employee Name window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Employee Maintenance), an error message is included in the report
These updates provide additional information on the printed report and accommodate the specification revisions for electronic filing.

Withholding Section Updates of the Taxes Tab in Employee Window

On the Taxes tab of the Employee Name window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Employee Maintenance), the following enhancements were made to the Withholding section:
  • The Federal Calculation field and Federal W-4 field is now replaced with an ellipsis menu.
  • When you click the ellipsis menu for federal tax, a Federal Tax window is displayed where you can specify the following information:
    • Filing Status
    • Federal W-4
    • Exemptions
    • Federal Calculation
    • Additional Annual Tax
    • Additional Period Tax
    • Annual Wage Adjust
  • When you click the ellipsis menu for state tax, a State Tax window is displayed where you can specify the following information:
    • Filing Status
    • Personal Exemptions
    • Dependent Exemptions
    • Additional Annual Tax
    • Additional Period Tax
    • Annual Wage Adjust
  • The Additional Tax columns are now merged with the Filing Status field where information is specified as a single string similar to the Employee Master Report information.

Indiana WH-4 Elections for First Time Exemptions

To note first time claims of an exemption and additional exemption amounts, the following enhancements were made for an Indiana employer:
  • In the Withholding section on the Taxes tab of the Employee Name window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Employee Maintenance), you can now click the ellipsis menu for Indiana to display the Indiana State Tax window. Specifically in the Indiana State Tax window, you can now enter the following information:
    • First Time Dependents: Indicates the number of exemptions to be calculated at $1500 per exemption for first time dependents
    • Adopted Dependents: Indicates the number of exemptions to be calculated at $3000 per exemption for first time dependents
  • On the Main tab of the 2023 IN Tax Settings window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Tax Rate Maintenance > State Tax Table Maintenance), the following fields are now added:
    • minus First Time Dependent Credits
    • minus Adopted Dependent Credits

WA PFAML and WA Cares Updates in the Employee Window

On the Advanced tab of the Employee Name window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Employee Maintenance), you can now configure WA Cares without enabling WA PFAML first and vice versa on the 2023 Paid Leave section.

Also, on the 2023 Paid Leave section, a Participant field is now available for WA CARES.
Note: If Enable Paid Family and Medical Leave is Yes (Full) or Yes (Employee Only) on the Main tab of the 2023 WA Tax Settings window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Tax Rate Maintenance > State Tax Table Maintenance), all eligible employees should be configured to Yes in the Participant field of WA PFAML, WA CARES, or both on the 2023 Paid Leave section.

Employee Master Report Tax and Filing Status Information

When you generate an Employee Master Report (Payroll System > Reports > Employee Master Report), the information from the Tax and Filing Status sections are now taken from the Withholding section of the Taxes tab of the Employee Name window (Payroll System > Maintenance Programs > Employee Maintenance).
